Structural similarity with clay-type minerals is apparent in the self-assembled layered coordination network [{Ag(1)(MeCN) } ][BF ] , which is stabilized by a lamellar chelate effect (section of structure shown on the right). The interlayer region is expandable through the use of larger ligands such as PhCN. The void space is occupied by one PhCN molecule per repeat unit.

Block copolymers (BCPs) can form nanoparticles having different morphologies that can be used as photonic nanocrystals and are a platform for drug delivery, sensors, and catalysis. In particular, BCP nanoparticles having disk-like shape have been recently discovered. Such nanodisks can be used as the next-generation antitumor drug delivery carriers; however, the applicability of the existing nanodisks is limited due to their poor or unknown ability to respond to external stimuli.

Graft-through ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of norbornene-terminated macromonomers (MMs) prepared using various polymerization methods has been extensively used for the synthesis of bottlebrush (co)polymers, yet the potential of ROMP for the synthesis of MMs that can subsequently be polymerized by graft-through ROMP to produce new bottlebrush compositions remains untapped. Here, we report an efficient "ROMP-of-ROMP" method that involves the synthesis of norbornene-terminated poly(norbornene imide) (PNI)-based MMs that, following ROMP, provide new families of bottlebrush (co)polymers and "brush-on-brush" hierarchical architectures. In the bulk state, the organization of the PNI pendants drives bottlebrush backbone extension to enable rapid assembly of asymmetric lamellar morphologies with large asymmetry factors.

Anticorrosion coating with near-infrared light triggered precisely controllable self-healing performances.

J Colloid Interface Sci

Georgia Southern Univ, Dept Chem & Biochem, POB 8064, Statesboro, GA 30460, USA.

Great attentions have been paid to anticorrosion coatings with self-healing performances to enhance its reliability and protection period, but massive challenges still remain for developing a coating with selectively triggered and accurately controllable self-healing behaviors. Herein, by integrating lamellar graphene oxide (GO) into a polycaprolactone (PCL) nanofiber loaded with 8-hydroxyquinoline (8HQ) corrosion inhibitors, a composite coating with precisely controllable self-healing capabilities is developed. The coating defects can be remotely and accurately repaired under near-infrared (NIR) light irradiation within a very short time.

Department of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering and the Bioinspired Institute, Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York 13244, United States.

Copolymer nanovesicles are used extensively in chemical processes and biomedical applications in which they are subjected to dynamic flow environments. Flow-induced vesicle deformation, fragmentation, and reorganization modify the energetic (e.g.

Covalent organic nanotubes offer enhanced stability, robustness, and functionality, compared to their noncovalent counterparts. This study explores constructing polydiacetylene (PDA) nanotubes using a two-step process: self-assembly via noncovalent interactions followed by UV-induced polymerization of a diacetylene template. A promising building block consisting of a hydrogen-bonding headgroup, barbituric acid, linked to a linear diacetylene chain was prepared.
