The characteristics of photons and neutrons produced during the interaction between a monoenergetic (12 and 18 MeV) electron beam and a tungsten scattering foil enclosed into a 10 cm-thick tungsten shell have been determined using Monte Carlo methods. This model was used aiming to represent a linac head working in electron-mode for cancer treatment. Photon and neutron spectra were determined around the scattering foil and to 50 and 100 cm below the electron source. Induced photons are mainly produced along the direction of the incoming electron beam. On the other hand, neutrons are produced in two sites, mainly in the inner surface of the linac head and in less extent in the scattering foil. The neutron spectra are evaporation neutrons which are emitted isotropically from the site where are produced leaking out from the linac head, reaching locations were the patient is allocated.

In recent years, luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) have gained a renaissance as a pivotal transparent photovoltaic (PV) for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPVs). However, most of the studies focused on light-selective LSCs, and less attention was paid to the utilization of the full solar spectrum. In this study, a lead-free microcrystal CsAgNaBiInCl (CANBIC) perovskite phosphor is demonstrated to have bifunctional effects of luminescent down-shifting (LDS) and light scattering for the fabrication of LSCs, realizing light response from ultraviolet (UV) to NIR regions by an edge-mounted Si solar cell.

A simple method for one-step synthesis of aggregated gold nanoparticles (a-AuNPs) using single-layer carbon dots (s-CDs) as the capping agents has been proposed. The obtained a-AuNPs are mainly composed of several spherical AuNPs of 20-25 nm sized, which aggregate to form nanogaps of ∼1 nm. Furthermore, the obtained a-AuNPs produce a strong localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) absorption band centered at around 640 nm, which is quite close to the wavelength of the commonly used 633 nm laser in surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS).

We demonstrate a genuine method for three-dimensional pictorial reconstructions of two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and hybrid specimens based on confocal Raman data collected in a back-scattering geometry of a 532-nm setup. The protocol, or the titular PRISM (Phase-Resolved Imaging Spectroscopic Method), allows for sub-diffractive and material-resolved imaging of the object's constituent material phases. The spacial component comes through either the signal distal attenuation ratio (direct mode) or subtle light-matter interactions, including interference enhancement and light absorption (indirect mode).

Contrast processing is suggested to interact with eye growth and myopia development. A novel contrast-reducing myopia control lens design decreases image contrast and was shown to slow myopia progression. Limited insights exist regarding neural visual processing following adaptation to image contrast reduction.
