During the past years our group published several articles using computer simulations to address the complex interaction of tumors and the vasculature as underlying transport network. Advances in imaging and lab techniques pushed in vitro research of tumor spheroids forward and animal models as well as clinical studies provided more insights to single processes taking part in tumor growth, however, an overall picture is still missing. Computer simulations are a non-invasive option to cumulate current knowledge and form a quasi in vivo system. In our software, several known models were assembled into a multi-scale approach which allows to study length scales relevant for clinical applications. We release our code to the public domain, together with a detailed description of the implementation and several examples, with the hope of usage and futher development by the community. A justification for the included algorithms and the biological models was obtained in previous publications, here we summarize the technical aspects following the workflow of a typical simulation procedure.

Background: The low-temperature cholesterol esterase is primarily used in industries such as papermaking and healthcare.
Objective: To discover a microorganism with high cholesterol esterase activity and tolerance to low temperatures, leading to the promotion of the sustainable utilization of marine cold-adapted microbial resources and fostering industrial development.
Materials And Methods: This study isolated a strain producing low-temperature cholesterol esterase from marine samples in the China Bohai Sea.

Objectives: Epimedium brevicornum Maxim (EP) has a history of utilization in Chinese traditional medicine for the treatment of bone diseases. However, the precise mechanism by which EP extract (EPE) operates in Diabetes osteoporosis (DOP) remains ambiguous. The study was aimed to explore the effects and underlying mechanisms of EPE on DOP, with particular emphasis on the AGE-RAGE pathway.

Objective measurements of pain and safe methods to alleviate it could revolutionize medicine. This study used functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and virtual reality (VR) to improve pain assessment and explore non-pharmacological pain relief in cancer patients. Using resting-state fNIRS (rs-fNIRS) data and multinomial logistic regression (MLR), we identified brain-based pain biomarkers and classified pain severity in cancer patients.

The Sniffin' Sticks test is evaluated by summing the scores of threshold, discrimination, and identification subtests to establish an olfactory diagnosis (anosmia, hyposmia, normosmia). However, variations in thresholds, ranges and inconsistencies have been observed. Statistical analyses (distributions, quantiles), protocol simulation, and implementations of the Sniffin' Sticks test were conducted.

The rapid increase in carbon emissions from the logistics transportation industry has underscored the urgent need for low-carbon logistics solutions. Electric logistics vehicles (ELVs) are increasingly being considered as replacements for traditional fuel-powered vehicles to reduce emissions in urban logistics. However, ELVs are typically limited by their battery capacity and load constraints.
