The room-temperature phosphorescence chromophore, Pt(ii) coproporphyrin I (PtCP), was fixed on the surface of a 3D-network of nanoscale pores of porous glass through ion-exchange reaction. The absorption and phosphorescence spectra indicated that PtCP can be loaded while maintaining monomeric dispersion at concentrations well beyond solubility limits of PtCP in solution. The phosphorescence quantum yield of PtCP fixed on the surface was also found to have double the enhancement of solution. The extended lifetime of phosphorescence of PtCP bonded on the surface compared to that in solution clearly indicated that suppression of nonradiative deactivation plays a key role in high quantum yield and long triplet lifetime. This hybridization with nano-porous glass provides opportunities for various potential applications.

Introduction: With the increased use of CTs in cases with trimalleolar ankle fractures, bone fragments between the posterior malleolus and the rest of the articular surface tibial plafond surface - described as intercalary fragments (ICFs) - can be recognized. The aim of this study was to determine the ICF size threshold for a significant change in the pressure distribution at the ankle joint, having a considerable impact on the remaining cartilage of the joint.
Design And Methods: Eight human cadaveric lower legs were used, and a posterior malleolus Bartonicek II fracture was created with sequential 2mm, 4mm, 6mm and 8mm ICFs.

Despite only covering ~3 % of the land mass, peatlands store more carbon (C) per unit area than any other ecosystem. This is due to the discrepancy between C fixed by the plants (Gross primary productivity (GPP)) and decomposition. However, this C is vulnerable to frequent, severe droughts and changes in the peatland microclimate.

Smartphone-based colorimetric (bio)sensing is a promising alternative to conventional detection equipment for on-site testing, but it is often limited by sensitivity to lighting conditions. These issues are usually avoided using housings with fixed light sources, increasing the cost and complexity of the on-site test, where simplicity, portability, and affordability are a priority. In this study, we demonstrate that careful optimization of color space can significantly boost the performance of smartphone-based colorimetric sensing, enabling housing-free, illumination-invariant detection.

Fingermarks are important forensic evidence for identifying people. In this work, luminescent MOF [Eu(BDC)(HO)] (herein referred as EuBDC) was tested as a potential latent fingermark (LF) luminescent developer powder and its acute toxicity evaluated following OECD protocol 423. The results showed that the powder can develop groomed LF on materials such as leather, plastic, metal, glass, cardboard, and aluminum.

The development of carbon monoxide oxidation catalysts for complex gas environments faces significant challenges in fire scenarios. Only a few representative gases are used as interfering components in simulated real smoke under laboratory conditions, which cannot accurately reflect the performance of catalysts in a real fire. Herein, Au/CeO catalysts with high activity were prepared by adjusting the morphology (rod, cube, polyhedron and irregular particles) and exposed crystal surface ratio of CeO.
