In this work, we report a facile and green strategy for one pot and in-situ synthesis of a dandelion-like conductive polyaniline coated gold nanoparticle nanocomposites (Au@PANI). The Au@PANI was characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, TGA, FTIR, UV-vis and conductivity measurement, respectively. Newly-designed Au@PANI materials possessed a significantly high conductivity and strong adsorption capability. Thus, the Au@PANI modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was utilized for construct a novel electrochemical sensor for the simultaneous assay of Pb and Cu using square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV). Under the optimized conditions, an excellent electrochemical response in the simultaneous of Pb and Cu with detection limit of 0.003 and 0.008 μM (S/N = 3), respectively. Moreover, the prepared sensors realized an excellent reproducibility, repeatability and long term stability, as well as reliable practical assays in real water samples. Besides, the possible formation mechanism and sensing mechanism of Au@PANI nanocomposites have been discussed in detail. We believe this study provides a novel method of fabrication of noble metal nanoparticles decorated conducting polymer materials for the electrochemical sensing applications.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) demethylase is essential for enzymatically removing methyl groups from m6A modifications and is significantly implicated in the pathogenesis and advancement of various cancers, which makes it a promising biomarker for cancer detection and research. As a proof of concept, we select the fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO) as the target m6A demethylase and develop a dandelion-like nanoprobe-based sensing platform by employing biobar-code amplification (BCA) for signal amplification. We construct two meticulously designed three-dimensional structures: reporter-loaded gold nanoparticles (Reporter@Au NPs) and substrate-loaded magnetic microparticles (Substrate@MMPs), which can self-assemble to form dandelion-like nanoprobes via complementary base pairing.

Active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) embedded dry powder for inhalation (AeDPI) shows higher drug loading and delivery dose for directly treating various lung infections. Inspired by the dandelion, we propose a novel kind of AeDPI microparticle structure fabricated by spray freeze drying technology, which would potentially enhance the alveoli deposition efficiency. When inhaling, such microparticles are expected to be easily broken-up into fragments containing API that acts as 'seed' and could be delivered to alveoli aided by the low density 'pappus' composed of excipient.

Bismuth sulfide (BiS) nanostructures have gained significant attention in the fields of catalysis, optoelectronics, and biomedicine due to their unique physicochemical properties. This paper introduces a simple and cost-effective method for producing BiS microstructures at low temperatures (25 and 70 °C). These microstructures are formed by the hierarchical self-assembly of BiS nanoparticles, which are typically 15-40 nm in size.

Formaldehyde is known to harm the respiratory, nervous, and digestive systems of people. In this paper, a novel dandelion-like electrocatalyst with core-shell heterostructure arrays were fast self-assembled prepared in situ using copper foam (CF) as support substrate and 2,3,6,7,10,11 hexahydroxy-triphenyl (HHTP) as ligand (Cu(OH)@Cu(HHTP)/CF) by a simple two-step hydrothermal reaction. The 1D Cu(OH) nanorods "core" and the 2D π-conjugated conducting metal-organic frameworks (Cu(HHTP)cMOF) "shell" with remote delocalized electrons give the dandelion-like heterogeneous catalysts excellent electrochemical activity such as a large specific surface area, high conductivity and a fast electron transfer rate.

We present an efficient approach for the consecutive synthesis of Au-TiO nanocomposites with controlled morphologies in a microfluidic chip. The seed-mediated growth method was employed to synthesize Au nanorods as the core, and TiO layers of varying thicknesses were deposited on the surface or tip of the Au nanorods. Au-TiO nanocomposites with core-shell, dumbbell, and dandelion-like structures can be precisely synthesized in a one-step manner within the microfluidic chip by finely tuning the flow rate of NaHCO and the amount of hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide.
