In vitro studies have shown that a neuron's electroresponsive properties can predispose it to oscillate at specific frequencies. In contrast, network activity in vivo can entrain neurons to rhythms that their biophysical properties do not predispose them to favor. However, there is limited information on the comparative frequency profile of unit entrainment across brain regions.

The FDA approval on September 29, 2023, for "class III " blood tests to assess hereditary cancer risk make widely available tests that may be obtained through a Direct to Consumer (DTC) path. There is concern that germ-line predisposition tests may not be reimbursed by insurance adding financial burdens to individuals and families. It is generally agreed in the fields of oncology and genetics that germ-line testing for disease susceptibility including cancer is best performed under care of a healthcare provider with genetic counseling.

The promises and perils of circulating tumor DNA for monitoring immunotherapy response in non-small cell lung cancer.

Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Disorders Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, KY 40202, USA.

There has been a rapid expansion of immunotherapy options for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) over the past two decades, particularly with the advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors. Despite the emerging role of immunotherapy in adjuvant and neoadjuvant settings though, relatively few patients will respond to immunotherapy which can be problematic due to expense and toxicity; thus, the development of biomarkers capable of predicting immunotherapeutic response is imperative. Due to the promise of a noninvasive, personalized approach capable of providing comprehensive, real-time monitoring of tumor heterogeneity and evolution, there has been wide interest in the concept of using circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) to predict treatment response.

Many Transformer-based pre-trained models for code have been developed and applied to code-related tasks. In this paper, we analyze 519 papers published on this topic during 2017-2023, examine the suitability of model architectures for different tasks, summarize their resource consumption, and look at the generalization ability of models on different datasets. We examine three representative pre-trained models for code: CodeBERT, CodeGPT, and CodeT5, and conduct experiments on the four topmost targeted software engineering tasks from the literature: Bug Fixing, Bug Detection, Code Summarization, and Code Search.

Background: A growing population of youth with medical complexity (YMC) are entering adult health care, education, and social systems in which their needs have been largely neglected. To better support YMC and their families, an understanding of how they manage the challenges of transitioning to adult services is needed. The aim of this study was to examine how families of YMC adapt to challenges and opportunities posed by the youth's transition to adulthood and transfer to adult services.
