It is shown that in the presence of Ca2+ plasmin converts bovine fibrinogen fragment DH (95 kDa) into DLA fragment by the cleavage of its beta-chain Arg372-Thr373 bond. DLA fragment consists of two components (82 and 12 kDa) held together by non-covalent bonds and has 3.5-fold higher anticlotting activity than DH fragment. The DH to DLA fragment conversion leads to the destabilization of thermolabile domains of the latter without the loss of their compact structure. The results obtained show that the activation of DH fragment by the cleavage of its Arg372-Thr373 bond bears some resemblance to the general activation of proenzyme into enzyme.

Background: Cancer, a predominant cause of mortality, poses a formidable challenge in our pursuit of elevating life expectancy. Throughout history, individuals have sought natural remedies with minimal side effects as an appealing substitute for chemotherapeutic drugs. One such remedy is , a renowned medicinal mushroom deeply entrenched in Asian ethnomedicine.

We have expounded the unique molecular design architecture for efficient thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials based on a donor-linker-acceptor-linker-donor (D-L-A-L-D) framework, which can be employed as predecessors of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices. Different from traditional donor-acceptor-type (D-A-type) TADF scaffolds, the D-L-A-L-D structural design avoids direct coupling amid the D and A fragments allowing the highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMOs) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals (LUMOs) to be spatially separated. It results in a reduced overlap between HOMOs and LUMOs, thus realizing fairly a slight singlet-triplet energy gap (Δ ) and higher photoluminescence quantum yield (Φ).

Micronuclei (MN) are fragments of damaged nucleic acids which budded from a cell’s nuclei as a repair mechanism for chromosomal instabilities, which within circulating white blood cells (cWBCs) signifies increased cancer risk, and in tumor cells indicates aggressive subtypes. MN form overtime and with therapy induction, which requires sequential monitoring of rarer cell subpopulations. We evaluated the peripheral blood (7.

This article presents the results of shape-dependent strength analyses in die-castings from traditional (straight-drilled) and conformal core-cooling moulds. Cores with a traditional cooling layout were made of H13 steel using machining, and the working sections of the conformal cores were made using the selective laser melting method (SLM). Two series of casts were produced in the same mould.
