Patients affected by chronic kidney disease, especially those requiring maintenance dialysis therapy, are particularly susceptible to infections, including reactivation of herpes zoster and are also at increased risk of herpes zoster complications. Postherpetic abdominal pseudohernia is a rare sequela of the infection, caused by motor neuropathy with muscle paresis, that manifests as an abdominal protrusion. In patients receiving peritoneal dialysis who may often present slight abdominal distension, the diagnosis of this complication may be challenging.

Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a severe demyelinating disease of the central nervous system, is caused by the reactivation of the polyomavirus JC virus (JCV). It favors the cerebrum and typically occurs in patients with immunodeficiencies, with a progressive course and fatal outcome in the majority of cases. However, the cerebellar form of PML, characterized by isolated posterior fossa lesions, such as those in the cerebellum or brainstem at disease onset, is rare, and reports of its occurrence in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients are lacking.

We report the case of a 52-year-old male who presented to our hospital with cervical lymphadenopathy. Lymph node biopsy revealed small atypical lymphoid cells positive for CD3 and CD5 and negative for CD56 and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-encoded small RNA (EBER) by in situ hybridization. CD4-positive cells and CD8-positive cells were mixed in almost equal numbers.

Background: The cellular tumor protein p53 (TP53) is a tumor suppressor gene that is frequently mutated in human cancers. Among various cancer types, the very aggressive high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) exhibits the highest prevalence of TP53 mutations, present in >96% of cases. Despite intensive efforts to reactivate p53, no clinical drug has been approved to rescue p53 function.
