Although specific techniques vary, core decompression is generally accepted as the treatment of choice for precollapse avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip to delay or prevent progression of the disease. This can be combined with hip arthroscopy to allow visual assessment of the femoral head as well as treatment of intra-articular pathologies, which may contribute to pain and joint degeneration. We describe a technique of hip arthroscopy and concurrent core decompression using an expandable reamer and bone grafting for treatment of hip AVN.

Introduction: Extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) is very rarely described during sickle cell disease (SCD). Our aim was to describe six cases of EMH occurring in adult SCD patients and to conduct a literature review.
Methods: Retrospective, descriptive, and monocentric study, identifying all cases of EMH recorded in our cohort of adult SCD patients, up to April 2024.

Purpose: This systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-regression aims to determine whether surgical treatment for proximal humeral fractures is superior to non-surgical treatment regarding pain, functionality, complications, and new surgery rates.
Methods: We systematically reviewed clinical trials from PubMed (MEDLINE), EMBASE, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane up to April 2024. Data comparing surgical or conservative of proximal humeral fractures were retrieved for outcomes of pain, functionality, adverse events, and new surgeries.

Rotatory devices are essential in clinical surgical practice, however, depending on the different systems available, their function can impact bone repair and postoperative responses on varying scales. This impact underscores the need to explore new techniques aiming to enhance bone repair. This study aimed to assess the immediate and delayed effects on bone healing in subcritical bone defects using both air turbine and an electric handpiece.

In this study, specimens from patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) were analyzed. The results revealed significantly higher Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores and CT low-density area ratio in the BME group compared to the control group.
