Peptoid nanosheets are supramolecular protein-mimetic materials that form from amphiphilic polypeptoids with aromatic and ionic side chains. Nanosheets have been studied at the nanometer scale, but the molecular structure has been difficult to probe. We report the use of C-C dipolar recoupling solid-state NMR measurements to reveal the configuration of backbone amide bonds selected by C isotopic labeling of adjacent α-carbons. Measurements on the same molecules in the amorphous state and in nanosheets revealed that amide bonds in the center of the amino block of peptoid (NaeNpe)-(NceNpe) (B28) favor the trans configuration in the amorphous state and the cis configuration in the nanosheet. This unexpected result contrasts with previous NMR and theoretical studies of short solvated peptoids. Furthermore, examination of the amide bond at the junction of the two charged blocks within B28 revealed a mixture of both cis and trans configurational states, consistent with the previously predicted brickwork-like intermolecular organization.

The effects of dairy sterilization techniques (65 °C/30 min, 72 °C/15 s, 85 °C/15 s, 100 °C/5 min, and 121 °C/5 s) on the epigallocatechin-3-gallate-casein (EGCG-CS) complexes were investigated through the structural and functional characteristics in this work. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) detection showed the redshirting of the absorption peak suggested structural changes in the amide I area. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and viscosity measurements proved that treatments above 85 °C broke non-covalent bonds, leading to instability and low viscosity of EGCG-CS.

Amide compounds are widely present in drug molecules and natural products, which can be synthesized by acid-amine condensation. It is urgent to design new photocatalysts for achieving both nitroaromatic reduction and C-H oxidation to obtain raw materials, carboxylic acids, and aromatic amines. Herein, a novel isopolymolybdate-incorporated photoactive metal-organic framework, -TPT, was constructed by combining the oxidation catalyst [MoO], Ni(II) cation, and photosensitive ligand 2,4,6-tri(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (TPT).

Chiral macrocycles have emerged as attractive media for chromatographic enantioseparation due to their excellent host-guest recognition properties. In this study, a new chiral stationary phase (CSP) based on 1,1'-binaphthyl chiral polyimine macrocycle (CPM) was reported. The CPM was synthesized by one-step aldehyde-amine condensation of (S)-2,2'-dihydroxy-[1,1'-binaphthalene]-3,3'-dicarboxaldehyde with 1,2-phenylenediamine and bonded on thiolated silica via the thiol-ene click reaction to afford the CSP.

Sorption and transport are important environmental behaviors of antibiotics in soils and can determine the fate of antibiotics in environments; however, limited relevant studies have been conducted on long-term manured soils. In this study, batch and repacked soil column experiments were conducted to examine the sorption and transport behavior of four veterinary antibiotics, including sulfamethazine (SMT), florfenicol (FFC), doxycycline (DOX), and enrofloxacin (ENR), in red soils, yellow soils, and calcareous soils with long-term amendment of chicken or pig manure collected in Zhejiang Province. The results showed that the sorption isothermal data of the four target antibiotics all conformed well to the linear and Freundlich models.

The extensive use and longevity of nylon plastics pose substantial challenges for plastic management, recycling, and pollution control. Depolymerization and monomer recycling are potential solutions for valorizing waste plastics, but they often rely on complex and costly catalysts. Additionally, various additives in nylon plastics can negatively impact the catalyst efficiency.
