We report on 6 laparoschisis treated in the last 5 years. Five patients survived whereas one died at the age of 41 days. We review clinical aspects of this malformation and point out the need for a prompt operation and an adequate nutritional management.

A non-selective series of 48 neo-nates was treated during a period of 8 years (1978-1985), with follow-up more than four months for recent observations. Surgical treatment comported Gross-technique in 32 cases; immediate total-closure in 7 cases and progressive reintegration (Schuster) in 10 cases. Long-term parenteral nutrition was performed in 38 neo-nates.

Study about 22 gastroschisis observed 17 years along allows to the authors to point out the elements of amelioration of prognostic and decrease of mortality. Antenatal diagnosis allows the hysterotomy at the end of gestation avoiding traumatic or infectious risks. Reanimation and transport are very important to bring the neonate in good conditions to the pediatric surgeon.
