Zwitterions are promising ligands for the fabrication of non-toxic and non-interacting biomaterials. Sulfonamide-based monothiol zwitterionic ligands on gold nanocluster (AuNC) surfaces provide nanomaterials with stable colloidal properties and intense red emission in biological environments. The fluorescence intensity of the nanocluster can be modulated by reactive oxygen species (e.g. ˙OH), allowing for quantitative and selective sensing of antioxidants (e.g. ascorbic acid) in real time.

The structural alterations in the constituent materials of nanocomposites such as graphene nanocomposites typically induce changes in their properties including mechanical, electrical, and optical properties. Therefore, by altering the preparation conditions of nanocomposites and investigating their responsiveness to basic biomolecules (such as proteins), it is possible to explore the application potentials of the composites and guide development of new nanocomposite preparation. In this study, different composites of graphene oxide and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs/GO) were obtained by varying the volumes of reducing agents used in the one-pot hydrothermal method.

To date, quantitative analysis of proanthocyanidin (PAC) containing materials including plant extracts and fractions depends on colorimetric assays or phloroglucinolysis/thiolysis combined with UV-HPLC analysis. Such assays are of limited accuracy, particularly lack specificity, require extensive sample preparation and degradation, and need appropriate physical reference standards. To address this analytical challenge and toward our broader goal of developing new plant-sourced biomaterials that chemically and mechanically modulate the properties of dental tissue for clinical interventions, we have characterized 12 different PAC DESIGNER (Depletion and Enrichment of Select Ingredients Generating Normalized Extract Resources) materials.

Achieving rational control over chemical and energetic properties at the perovskite/electron transport layer (ETL) interface is crucial for realizing highly efficient and stable next-generation inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs). To address this, we developed multifunctional ferrocene (Fc)-based interlayers engineered to exhibit adjustable passivating and electrochemical characteristics. These interlayers are designed to minimize non-radiative recombination and, to modulate the work function (WF) and uniformity of the perovskite surface, thereby enhancing device performance.

The design of acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts with high activity and durability is the key to achieving efficient hydrogen production. Herein, we report a Cr-doped RuO (RuCrO) catalyst that exhibits good OER activity in acidic electrolytes. The doping of Cr increases the valence state of Ru, which enhances the activity of the catalyst, and a current density of 10 mA cm can be achieved at only 235 mV, which is superior to that of unmodified RuO of 299 mV.

Herein, NiFeP/TiC@NF was synthesized from a hydrothermal process and chemical conversion, and exhibited a low overpotential of 177 mV at = 50 mA cm, a low Tafel slope of 56 mV dec, and a very competitive stable activity in alkaline electrolyte, proposing a strategy for efficient OER and overall water splitting.
