To explore the application of spiral tracheoplasty in the repair of large tracheal defects after the resection of trachea invaded by thyroid cancer. A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 11 patients, including 4 males and 7 females, aged from 36 to 67 years old, with large tracheal defects after tracheal resection due to thyroid papillary carcinoma invading the trachea in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University from January 2019 to January 2022. The range of tracheal defects, time of tracheal reconstruction, postoperative complications and airway were recorded, and the patients were followed up for more than 24 months.

Aim: Tracheotomy has become more prevalent in clinical settings, and effectively managing postoperative complications plays a crucial role in determining patient outcomes. However, there is a scarcity of clinical research focusing on the development of intratracheal granuloma after tracheotomy, and there is insufficient theoretical support for early detection in clinical settings. This study investigates the relationship between clinical factors and the occurrence and location of intratracheal granuloma.

Objective: To develop a reproducible survival rabbit model for laryngotracheal stenosis (LTS).
Methods: Seventy New Zealand white (NZW) rabbits were randomly divided into experimental groups ( = 30) and a control group ( = 40). In experimental groups, a nylon brush was inserted retrograde from the tracheotomy through the subglottis and rotated until a full layer circumferential mucosal injury to cartilage exposure, assisted by fiberoptic laryngoscopy (FOL) visualization.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of early tracheotomy in neurologic critical care patients.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 100 patients with severe craniocerebral injury (SCI) who underwent percutaneous tracheotomy at The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine from January 2021 to February 2022. Of them, 52 cases (observation group) received the procedure within 24 hours of injury, while 48 patients (control group) received the procedure after 24 hours.
