Background: Infection is a leading cause of death after pediatric heart transplants (PHTs). Understanding of common pathogens is needed to guide testing strategies and empiric antibiotic use.
Methods: We conducted a 3-center retrospective study of PHT recipients ≤18 years old presenting to cardiology clinics or emergency departments (EDs) from 2010 to 2018 for evaluation of suspected infections within 2 years of transplant.

Objectives: Differences in inflammatory responses between men and women may contribute to sex disparities in cardiac surgery outcomes. We investigated how sex differences influence systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and adverse outcomes after cardiac surgery.
Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort study of patients undergoing cardiac surgery from 2018 to 2020 was performed.

Context: Simulation-based medical education (SBME) is a method for enhancing learner skill prior to initiating care for real patients. Although the use of SBME continues to grow, there is limited data on simulations related to osteopathic medical training. Osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) applies hands-on techniques to facilitate healing.

Cardiac fibrosis is a major driver of heart failure, a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Advances in single-cell transcriptomics have revealed the pivotal role of SPP1+ macrophages in the pathogenesis of cardiac fibrosis, positioning them as critical mediators and promising therapeutic targets. SPP1+ macrophages, characterized by elevated expression of () and often co-expressing (), localize to fibrotic niches in the heart and other organs.

Purpose Of The Review: The aim is to provide a comprehensive review of regional anesthesia techniques to control ventricular arrhythmias.
Recent Findings: While promising, the use of stellate ganglion block (SGB) for arrhythmia control is still under investigation, and further clinical trials are warranted to fully understand its efficacy, long-term outcomes, suitable patient group, and safety profile. Nevertheless, it remains a potential adjunctive therapy in the management of ventricular arrhythmias in select patients.
