The development of porous metal-organic frameworks that can retain structural integrity under harsh physical and chemical conditions is essential from the perspective of their use in adsorption, catalysis, and sensors. Herein, a lanthanum carboxylate framework was found to exhibit exceptional stability, not only robust in boiling aqueous solutions at pH 2-12 and in boiling common organic solvents over 24 h but also stable upon ball milling for 1 h. Furthermore, this framework displayed highly selective separation for CO over N ( S = 940), as well as size-dependent selective adsorption behavior of water and alcohols.

The correct classification of strong-flavored crude baijiu affects its quality and overall standard and is crucial for the intelligent development of the baijiu industry. In this work, we developed a novel optical sensing array using lanthanum-doped carbon dots (La-CDs). Using La-CDs with three metal complex dyes-chromium black T, alizarin red, and dimethylphenol orange-we were able to detect organic acids and tannic acid (TA) in crude baijiu in a way that was both colorimetric and fluorescent for the first time.

The excessive amounts of phosphorus (P) discharged and usage have caused eutrophication and algal blooms, which seriously jeopardize the environment even the human health. In this study, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) served as carriers to develop a lanthanum-based sodium alginate hydrogel (La-CNT-COOH/SA) aimed at efficiently removing phosphate from wastewater. Characterization results confirmed successful deposition of La(OH) nanoparticles onto CNT-COOH.

Lanthanum (La(III)) is recognized for its ability to mitigate heavy metal stress in plants. However, the inorganic La(III) salts and lanthanum oxide nanoparticles (LaO NPs) extensively used in agriculture are prone to soil immobilization, thereby compromising their bioavailability and posing environmental risks. This study synthesized and characterized the lanthanum(III)-amino acid chelate (La(III)-AA) from soybean protein isolate (SPI) hydrolysates.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) show potential application in many domains, in which photochromic MOFs (PMOFs) have received enormous attention. Researchers mainly utilize photoactive ligands to build PMOFs. Recently, the mixed electron donating and accepting ligands strategies have also been used to construct PMOFs driven by the electron transfer between nonphotochromic moieties.
