: A degenerative joint disease that primarily affects elderly individuals, osteoarthritis (OA) causes pain, decreased mobility, and a lower quality of life. Procaine is regarded as a "veteran" medicine due to its extensive clinical use, although it remains a molecule of interest, as researchers are uncovering new biological and pharmacological effects through innovative experimental methods. This study evaluates the efficacy of the "procaine complex", developed in our country, in alleviating pain and improving functionality in elderly individuals with osteoarthritis of the knee and hip.

Background: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare connective tissue disease associated with rapidly evolving interstitial lung disease (ILD), driving its mortality. Specific imaging-based biomarkers associated with the evolution of lung disease are needed to help predict and quantify ILD.
Methods: We evaluated the potential of an automated ILD quantification system (icolung) from chest CT scans, to help in quantification and prediction of ILD progression in SSc-ILD.

Microbial colonization of the human gut occurs soon after birth, proceeds through well-studied phases and is affected by lifestyle and other factors. Less is known about phage community dynamics during infant gut colonization due to small study sizes, an inability to leverage large databases and a lack of appropriate bioinformatics tools. Here we reanalysed whole microbial community shotgun sequencing data of 12,262 longitudinal samples from 887 children from four countries across four years of life as part of the The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Young (TEDDY) study.

Objective: This study aimed to elucidate the clinical manifestations, laboratory findings and outcomes of patients with intravascular large B cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) with neurological involvement and to differentiate IVLBCL with and without neurological involvement.
Methods: A cohort study was conducted at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, between January 2005 and September 2024. Clinical data, laboratory values and central nervous system imaging results were analysed.

Objectives: Private healthcare is a rapidly growing industry in the UK, particularly for surgical procedures, due to extensive waiting times in publicly funded health care. The NHS also commissions private healthcare to provide procedures for NHS patients to alleviate waiting times. We aimed to explore the trends and geographical variations between the North and South of England in privately funded and NHS-funded privately delivered orthopaedic procedures compared to NHS waiting times.
