Objective: To study the effect of cervical priming with misoprostol on cervical entry in women undergoing diagnostic hysteroscopy for evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding.
Methods: Randomized controlled trial conducted in teaching hospital and tertiary referral center on 122 women requiring diagnostic hysteroscopy for evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding. Women were randomized into two equal groups (n = 122). Study group received 200-μg vaginal misoprostol, 3 h prior to vaginoscopic hysteroscopy. No drug was used in control group. No analgesia or anesthesia was used in either group. Outcome measure included (i) ease of cervical entry (Likert scale), and (ii) pain scoring (Visual Analog Scale) and procedural entry time.
Results: Forty-six (75.41%) patients in the study group and 17 (27.87%) in control group had easy or very easy entry (Likert scale-4 and 5) (p < 0.001). Median pain scoring by VAS and the median procedural entry time was significantly lower in the study group compared to the control group (p < 0.001).
Conclusion: Use of 200-μg vaginal misoprostol, administered vaginally 3 h before diagnostic vaginoscopic hysteroscopy, was found to be simple and effective method of cervical priming in facilitating cervical entry with minimal side effects. Objective: To evaluate the clinical outcomes and define the indications for a one-stage mandibular reconstruction technique that combines iliac bone flaps with immediate implant-based dentures, and to assess both the accuracy of surgical planning and the long-term success of the procedure.
Methods: A total of ten patients underwent the procedure at Peking University Hospital of Stomatology between June 2020 and August 2023. The preoperative biopsy pathology of all the patients confirmed a benign tumor.

Introduction: Several aspects of the involvement of HPV in the pathogenesis of HPV-associated diseases remain poorly understood including mechanistic aspects of infection and the question of why the majority of HPV-positive HNSCC-patients are non-smokers, whereas HPV-negatives are smokers. Our previous research, based on 1,100 patient samples, hypothesized an explanation for this phenomenon: Smoking induces upregulation of a mucosal protective protein (SLPI), which competes with HPV for binding to Annexin A2 (AnxA2), pivotal for HPV cell entry. Here we investigate the mechanistic aspects of our hypothesis using transfection assays.

Introduction: The notable increase in cases of rhino-orbito-cerebral Mucormycosis during the COVID pandemic is alarming. Both share a common route of entry, the nasal mucosa, leading to speculation about whether similar receptors play a role in both diseases. We aim to compare the expression of ACE2 and TMPRSS2 in the nasal and paranasal sinus tissues among patients with COVID-19-associated Mucormycosis (CAM), COVID-19-negative mucormycosis (CNM), and healthy individuals.

Similar results have been reported when using antegrade intramedullary lengthening nails (ILNs). The purpose of our study is to examine if antegrade telescoping intramedullary lengthening nails lead to varus-procurvatum malalignment of the proximal femur and what are possible predictors of that shift.
