The immobilization of molecular species onto electrodes presents a direct route to modifying surface properties with molecular fidelity. Conventional methods include direct covalent attachment and physisorption of pyrene-appended molecular compounds to electrodes with aromatic character through π-π interactions. A recently reported hybrid approach extends the synthetic flexibility of the latter to a broader range of electrode materials. We report an application of this approach to immobilization of pyrene-appended ferrocene onto pyrene-functionalized indium tin oxide (ITO). The modified ITO surfaces were characterized using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and electrochemical techniques. An electron-transfer rate constant ( k) of 100 ± 8 s was measured between the electrode and immobilized ferrocene using electrochemical methods. For comparison, a ferrocene-modified electrode using conventional covalent attachment of vinylferrocene was also prepared, and k was measured to be 9 ± 2 s.

Targeting high-performance computing at cryogenic temperatures, we report back-end-of-line (BEOL)-compatible p-type Te-TeO field effect transistors (FETs) deposited using a sputtering method that is cost-effective, large-scale manufacturable, and highly controllable. Combined with the indium tin oxide channel n-FETs employing a common gate and HfO gate dielectric, BEOL three-dimensional stackable oxide semiconductor complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) inverters were further realized, demonstrating excellent threshold voltage matching, with a high voltage gain of 132 with a 2 V supply voltage () at room temperature. At cryogenic temperatures, the CMOS inverter exhibits significantly enhanced performance, achieving a voltage gain of 233 at a of 2 V with a wide noise margin of 86%.

Typical PEDOT:PSS hole-transporting layers frequently present some issues, including mismatched energy levels, high acidity, severe hygroscopicity, etc., all of which significantly weaken device performance. Herein, an approach of halogenated solvent treatment to modulate the physical properties of indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates is employed.

Solid-state Li-ion batteries are attracting attention for their enhanced safety features, higher energy density, and broader operational temperature range compared to systems based on liquid electrolytes. However, current solid-state Li-ion batteries face performance challenges, such as suboptimal cycling and poor rate capabilities, often due to inadequate interfacial contact between the solid electrolyte and electrodes. To address this issue, we incorporated a gallium-indium (Ga-In) liquid metal as the anode in a solid-state Li-ion battery setup, employing LiPSCl as the solid electrolyte.

By changing the topological charge number and the amplitude ratio of the ω and 2ω field components, different photon combination pathways in support of each harmonic generation are distinguished, which are manifested as characteristic tempo-spatial field distributions, doughnut-shaped intensity distributions with different diameters, and spiral phase diagrams with different topological charge numbers. The results here provide a new, to the best of our knowledge characterization method to distinguish the photon combination pathways for each order harmonic generation.

Biomarker detection has emerged as an essential complementary approach for early-stage screening of tumors. Conventional methods are constrained by bulky systems, cumbersome operation steps, and low detection accuracy. Here, we demonstrate a dual-resonance optimally configured lossy mode resonance (LMR) immunoprobe for detecting prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a biomarker for prostate cancer (PCa).
