Introduction Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a widely accepted surgical intervention for patients with advanced knee osteoarthritis, aimed at reducing pain and improving functional mobility. Preoperative radiological evaluations, including assessments of joint space narrowing, osteophytes, varus/valgus deformities, and subchondral sclerosis, are essential for planning the surgery and predicting postoperative outcomes. Although extensive research has been conducted internationally, data focusing on populations in Saudi Arabia remain limited.

Objective: The aim of this study was to comprehensively investigate the clinical efficacy of intraoperative local joint injection and intramuscular injection of betamethasone in patients with severe traumatic knee osteoarthritis (KOA).
Methods: 80 patients with severe traumatic KOA undergoing total knee arthroplasty were retrospectively recruited and rolled into S1 group (intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + betamethasone and isotonic saline mixture at joint incision), S2 group (muscle local injection of betamethasone before incision closure, simultaneously intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + isotonic saline mixture at joint incision), and D group (intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + isotonic saline mixture at the joint incision). Visual analog scale (VAS) score, serum inflammatory factors (IFs), hospital for special surgery (HSS)score, Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), and adverse reaction events (AREs) were analyzed.

Subchondral insufficiency fractures of the knee (SIFK) are a relatively common cause of knee pain, particularly in middle-aged and older adults. The SIFK is a type of stress fracture that occurs when excessive and repetitive or supraphysiologic loads are applied to subchondral bone [1]. Historically, this type of fracture was termed spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK) until advances in MRI identified underlying fractures as well as meniscal deficiency as likely attributable etiologies.

Introduction: Primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) has shown excellent results in the treatment of osteoarthritis, and its indications have now been extended to younger patients of working age. Few articles in the literature have studied the return to work of young subjects, and no specific studies have been conducted in France. Therefore, we carried out a retrospective study to 1) investigate the rate and delay of return to work after primary TKA in a population under 55 years of age and 2) identify factors influencing early return to work before 3 months, the period usually used as the duration of initial work stoppage (TS).
