Background: Baicalein is an important Chinese herbal medicine and has multiple pharmacological activities. However, the biological mechanisms of the anti-tumor effects of Baicalein on non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) still need to be understood.

Methods: Human NSCLC A549 and H1299 cells were pretreated with Baicalein or DMSO. Cells viability and transwell cell invasion assays were performed to assess cell proliferation and invasion. QRT-PCR assay was used to analyze mRNA expression levels of Twist1, E-cadhertin, Vimentin, Notch1 and hes-1. Western blot analysis was also performed to determine protein expression.

Results: In the study, we found that Baicalein had a significantly inhibited effect on proliferation ability of A549 and H1299 cells. Cells treated with Baicalein showed a down-regulated expression of CyclinD1 and CDK1 in A549 and H1299 cells. Furthermore, we found that Baicalein significantly inhibited cell invasion and Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) by up-regulating the mRNA and protein expression of E-cadherin and down-regulated the Twist1 and Vimentin expression, Moreover, Treatment of Baicalein down-regulated Notch1 and hes-1 expression in A549 and H1299 cells, which indicated that Baicalein could suppress the Notch signaling pathway.

Conclusion: Our studies suggest that Baicalein may be a potential phytochemical flavonoid for therapeutics of NSCLC and serve as a molecular target for NSCLC.

Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally, with a persistently low five-year survival rate of only 14-17%. High rates of metastasis contribute significantly to the poor prognosis of NSCLC, in which inflammation plays an important role by enhancing tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis. Targeting inflammatory pathways within cancer cells may thus represent a promising strategy for inhibiting NSCLC metastasis.

Saline-tolerant medicinal plants possess novel chemical constituents with high bioactivity because of their unique secondary metabolic pathways. an aquatic plant found in the coastal wetlands of the Yellow River Delta, was collected and studied in the present work. Ten drimane-type sesquiterpenoids and four triterpenoids, including six new ones (sinenseines A-F), were isolated from a whole plant of for the first time.

Lymph node metastasis significantly affects the NSCLC patients' staging, treatment strategy, and prognosis. Studies have shown that IGF2BP3, an oncofetal protein and an m6A reader, overexpresses and correlates to lymph node metastasis and worse overall survival in histopathological studies including NSCLC, but its mechanism needs further study. This study explored IGF2BP3's function and mechanism in LUAD lymphatic metastasis using public databases, a human LUAD tissue microarray, human LUAD cells, and a lymphatic metastasis model in male BALB/c nude mice.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is associated with an increasing incidence and mortality rate while existing treatment strategies continue to exhibit considerable limitation. Studies have demonstrated that upregulation of KLF4 gene inhibits LUAD progression, but its underlying mechanisms remain elusive. The present research explored roles and mechanisms of KLF4 and the NF-κB pathway in LUAD.

Background: The role of lipid metabolic reprogramming in the development of various types of cancer has already been established. However, the exact biological function and significance of the elongation of very-long-chain fatty acids (ELOVLs) gene family, which can affect fatty acid metabolism, is still not well understood in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). The aim of our study is to explore whether there are genes related to the pathogenesis of LUAD in the ELOVLs family, and even to guide clinical medication and potential prognostic indicators.
