Recovery of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) from wastewater is an important route for wastewater valorization. Selective acidogenic fermentation enables an efficient production of VFAs from wastewater, whereas electrodialysis (ED) provides an effective approach to concentrate VFAs. However, these two processes have not been coupled in one single system previously. In this study, an acidogenesis-ED integrated system that coupled a continuous acidogenesis with a batch process of VFA concentration was developed for recovery of high-concentration VFAs from wastewater. Under 20.0 V voltage, the acetate was concentrated by 4-fold and the propionate and butyrate were concentrated by over 3-fold in the integrated system after 528-h operation. The declined VFAs recovery ratios at the later stage due to significant reverse diffusion indicate a need to prevent product over-accumulation. This work demonstrated the feasibility of the acidogenesis-ED integrated reactor for wastewater valorization and discussed the remaining challenges and opportunities.

The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) is increasingly targeted by various noninvasive transcranial magnetic stimulation or transcranial current stimulation protocols in a range of neuropsychiatric and other brain disorders. The rationale for this therapeutic modulation remains elusive. A model is proposed, and up-to-date evidence is discussed, suggesting that the dlPFC is a high-level cortical centre where uncertainty management, movement facilitation, and cardiovascular control processes are intertwined and integrated to deliver optimal behavioural responses in particular environmental or emotional contexts.

Aims: This study aimed to develop Imatinib Mesylate (IMT)-loaded Poly Lactic-co-Glycolic Acid (PLGA)-D-α-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate (TPGS)- Polyethylene glycol (PEG) hybrid nanoparticles (CSLHNPs) with optimized physicochemical properties for targeted delivery to glioblastoma multiforme.
Background: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most destructive type of brain tumor with several complications. Currently, most treatments for drug delivery for this disease face challenges due to the poor blood-brain barrier (BBB) and lack of site-specific delivery.

Modulating immune function is a critical strategy in cancer and atherosclerosis treatments. For cancer, boosting or maintaining the immune system is crucial to prevent tumor growth. However, in vascular disease, mitigating immune responses can decrease inflammation and slow atherosclerosis progression.

Commercial HVAC systems intended to mitigate indoor air pollution are operated based on standards that exclude aerosols with smaller diameters, such as ultrafine particles (UFPs, D ≤ 100 nm), which dominate a large proportion of indoor and outdoor number-based particle size distributions. UFPs generated from occupant activities or infiltrating from the outdoors can be recirculated and accumulate indoors when they are not successfully filtered by an air handling unit. Monitoring UFPs in real occupied environments is vital to understanding these source and mitigation dynamics, but capturing their rapid transience across multiple locations can be challenging due to high-cost instrumentation.

Recent advances in molecular science have significantly enlightened our mechanistic understanding of spinocerebellar ataxia type 7. To further close remaining gaps, we performed a multi-omics analysis using SCA7 mice. Entire brain tissue samples were collected from 12-week-old mice, and RNA sequencing, methylation analysis, and proteomic analysis were performed.
