Certain medications have shown significant effectiveness in reducing the incidence of cardiovascular events and mortality, leading them to be among those that are prescribed most commonly for Canadian seniors. However, polypharmacy, which disproportionately affects older adults, is particularly concerning for frail individuals who are at higher risk for adverse medication-related events. The deprescribing process is the discontinuation, either immediate or gradual, of inappropriate medications, to address polypharmacy and improve outcomes.

Purpose: This study evaluates the Social Return on Investment (SROI) of implementing measures to prevent fragility fractures in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis (OP) in Spain.
Methods: A group of 13 stakeholders identified necessary actions for improving refracture prevention and assessed the investment required from the Spanish National Health System (SNHS), considering direct, indirect, and intangible costs over a one-year period. Unitary costs were sourced from scientific literature and official data, and intangible costs were estimated through surveys on women's willingness to pay for better health-related quality of life.

Background: This paper reviews cost containment policies to control pharmaceutical expenditure either by regulating the pharmaceutical industry or targeting the demand side.
Methods: The method used was the narrative literature review of studies which assessed the effect of pharmaceutical cost containment policies.
Results: Governments worldwide have implemented a great variety of policy measures to manage pharmaceutical expenditure while ensuring fair access to essential medicines.

Voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) was identified as an effective strategy in HIV prevention. Although circumcision reduces heterosexual acquisition of HIV by 60%, there is low uptake of VMMC services in Eswatini. This study applies the health belief model (HBM) in understanding perceptions of young men in Eswatini towards VMMC for HIV prevention to upscale its adoption.

Emergency cesarean section is associated with the development of postpartum depression. Esketamine has been demonstrated to have a rapid onset of antidepressant effects. Randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses have demonstrated the efficacy of esketamine in preventing postpartum depression after cessarean section.
