Introduction: Irish diagnostic radiography has undergone significant change with the dual introduction of state registration and mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in October 2015. We aimed to investigate motivators and barriers around CPD participation, mechanisms of CPD delivery and confidence of radiographers in using e-learning.
Methods: A questionnaire distributed nationally during this period captured Radiographer opinion through the use of closed and open questions. The questionnaire was distributed in hard copy and online formats depending on site preference.
Results: 71% of centres participated, rendering 453 responses in total from a possible 1222 respondents employed in those sites at the time of the survey. A varied range of ages and post qualification experience were represented. Respondents indicated use of several CPD options with the majority considering CPD to be important, very important or critical. Social media as a mechanism of CPD delivery was considered acceptable by 48%, while online learning elicited responses ranging from not confident to absolutely confident. Top motivators for CPD activity included interest, developing new knowledge and competency. Principal barriers included funding, time allocation and location issues.
Conclusion: This study identified Radiographer desire to undertake CPD and the need for developing online CPD offerings. An overall positive perception towards CPD was noted however barriers were identified which require specific redress strategies.

Background: The blended learning (BL) approach to training health care professionals is increasingly adopted in many countries because of high costs and disruption to service delivery in the light of severe human resource shortage in low resource settings. The Covid-19 pandemic increased the urgency to identify alternatives to traditional face-to-face (f2f) education approach. A four-day f2f antenatal care (ANC) and postnatal care (PNC) continuous professional development course (CPD) was repackaged into a 3-part BL course; (1) self-directed learning (16 h) (2) facilitated virtual sessions (2.

Introduction: The environmental impact of on-site conferences, with air travel as the primary contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, has prompted a surge in research in recent years. The objective of this report is to raise awareness and stimulate transformation in the organisation of meetings of the European Health Psychology Society (EHPS).
Methods: We conducted estimations of travel-related COeq emissions of EHPS conferences in 2019, 2022, and 2023, and performed projections for 2024 and 2025.

We aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of leukocyte cell population data (CPD) parameters obtained from an automated hematology analyzer to be able to use it in the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis. Our study was a retrospective and cross-sectional analysis. The neonates were classified into 3 groups: culture-positive sepsis (n = 20), clinical sepsis (n = 87), and control (n = 269).

Objectives: This study compared the visual outcomes and optical quality of two monofocal, aspheric intraocular lenses (IOLs; CT LUCIA 621P, Carl Zeiss Meditec; Eyhance ICB00, Johnson & Johnson Vision) by evaluating visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and higher-order aberrations 1 month post-cataract surgery.
Methods: In this retrospective, comparative study, 120 eyes (72 patients) that underwent cataract surgery with either CT LUCIA 621P (Lucia group) or Eyhance ICB00 (Eyhance group) implantation (60 eyes/group) were retrospectively investigated. Visual acuity at various distances and defocus curves were measured 1 month postoperatively.
Cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs) are formed in DNA following exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light and are mutagenic unless repaired by nucleotide excision repair (NER). It is known that CPD repair rates vary in different genome regions due to transcription-coupled NER and differences in chromatin accessibility; however, the impact of regional chromatin organization on CPD formation remains unclear. Furthermore, nucleosomes are known to modulate UV damage and repair activity, but how these damage and repair patterns are affected by the overarching chromatin domains in which these nucleosomes are located is not understood.
