The procedure of Thompson's hip hemiarthroplasty has been well established since the 1950s and is still widely used for neck of femur fractures. Symptomatic acetabular erosion is a concern, shown to be particularly present after long-term follow-up of active patients. We review the literature and present a unique 47 year follow-up of neck of femur fracture treated with Thompson's hemiarthroplasty.

Background: The ideal anteversion at which the acetabular and femoral components for a total hip arthroplasty (THA) should be implanted is still a subject of debate. One alignment philosophy being explored is restoration of individual constitutional femoral and acetabular anteversion. This study aimed to measure combined anteversion in a healthy hip population and understand the expected phenotypes and ranges for constitutional hip alignment.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of resistance training on cardiometabolic health-related outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and overweight/obesity.
Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCTs).
Data Sources: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Science Direct, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar databases were searched from inception up to May 2024.

Aims: The aims of this study were to develop an automatic system capable of calculating four radiological measurements used in the diagnosis and monitoring of cerebral palsy (CP)-related hip disease, and to demonstrate that these measurements are sufficiently accurate to be used in clinical practice.
Methods: We developed a machine-learning system to automatically measure Reimer's migration percentage (RMP), acetabular index (ACI), head shaft angle (HSA), and neck shaft angle (NSA). The system automatically locates points around the femoral head and acetabulum on pelvic radiographs, and uses these to calculate measurements.

More than 70 million adults in the United States are impacted by osteoarthritis (OA). Symptomatic articular cartilage loss that progresses to debilitating OA is being diagnosed more frequently and earlier in life, such that a growing number of active patients are faced with life-altering health care decisions at increasingly younger ages. Joint replacement surgeries, in the form of various artificial arthroplasties, are reliable operations, especially for older (≥65 years), more sedentary patients with end-stage OA, but have major limitations for younger, more active patients.

We have proposed to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that treatment-related increases in total hip bone mineral density (TH BMD) at two years could be a surrogate endpoint for fracture risk reduction in clinical trials. The qualification of a surrogate includes a strong association of the surrogate with the clinical outcome. We compiled a large database of individual patient data (IPD) through the FNIH-ASBMR-SABRE project, and this analysis aimed to assess the relationship between baseline BMD and fracture risk in the placebo groups.
