Introduction: Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory, autoimmune, mucocutaneous disease of unknown etiology. The first line of treatment for oral LP (OLP) has been corticosteroids, but because of their adverse effects, alternative therapeutic approaches are being carried out, of which the recent natural alternative is propolis.
Aim: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of topical propolis in the management of OLP.
Materials And Methods: The research group consisted of 27 patients diagnosed with symptomatic OLP, among which 15 patients were in the control group and the rest 12 were in the study group. The patients in the control group received triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% (topical application) while the patients in the study group received propolis gel. Both the groups were evaluated for pain and erythema at baseline (1 visit), first follow-up (7 day), and second follow-up (14 day) using numerical rating scale and modified oral mucositis index.
Results: The patients in both the study and control groups showed a statistically significant reduction ( = 0.000 for the study group and = 0.000 for the control group) in pain and erythema scores from baseline to second follow-up visit. However, on comparison of the reduction in pain and erythema scores between the two groups, the difference was found to be statistically insignificant ( = 0.255).
Statistical Analysis Used: Chi-square and Cramer's V test were used.
Conclusion: The topical propolis was found to be of comparative effectiveness with respect to triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% in the management of OLP.

Background/aim: This study explores the effects of ozone and propolis on the healing of critically sized bone defects at both the histologic and molecular levels, and the locations and concentrations of osteopontin and osteonectin during healing; both proteins play roles during bone healing.
Materials And Methods: This study used 56 adult male Sprague-Dawley rats of an average weight of 350 g, divided into four groups of 14: a control group, a topical ozone group (O), a topical ozone + systemic propolis (O + PO) group, and a systemic propolis group (PO). Seven rats from each group were sacrificed at the end of week 4 and the other seven at the end of week 6.

Green propolis is a resin produced from Baccharis dracunculifolia, which has as its main compounds flavonoids, derivatives of cinnamic acids, such as artepillin C and baccarin. This resin has antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer activities. This review aimed to analyze pharmaceutical patents containing green propolis in various formulations.

Wound infection and excessive blood loss are the two major challenges associated with trauma injuries that account for 10% of annual deaths in the United States. Nitric oxide (NO) is a gasotransmitter cell signaling molecule that plays a crucial role in the natural wound healing process due to its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, cell proliferation, and tissue remodeling abilities. Tranexamic acid (TXA), a prothrombotic agent, has been used topically and systemically to control blood loss in reported cases of epistaxis and combat-related trauma injuries.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) affects the wound healing process, resulting in impaired healing or aberrant scarring. DM increases reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, fibroblast senescence and angiogenesis abnormalities, causing exacerbated inflammation accompanied by low levels of TGF-β and an increase in Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Propolis has been proposed as a healing alternative for diabetic patients because it has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and proliferative effects and important properties in the healing process.
