Background: Agent-based models provide a formidable tool for exploring complex and emergent behaviour of biological systems as well as accurate results but with the drawback of needing a lot of computational power and time for subsequent analysis. On the other hand, equation-based models can more easily be used for complex analysis in a much shorter timescale.
Methods & Objective: This paper formulates an ordinary differential equations and stochastic differential equations model to capture the behaviour of an existing agent-based model of tumour cell reprogramming and applies it to optimization of possible treatment as well as dosage sensitivity analysis.
Results: For certain values of the parameter space a close match between the equation-based and agent-based models is achieved. The need for division of labour between the two approaches is explored.

A rapidly growing body of experimental evidence in the literature shows that the effects of humans interacting with vibrating structures, other humans, and their surrounding environment can be critical for reliable estimation of structural vibrations. The Interaction-based Vibration Serviceability Assessment framework (I-VSA) was proposed by the authors in 2017 to address this, taking into account human-structure dynamic interactions (HSI) to simulate the structural vibrations experienced by each occupant/pedestrian. The I-VSA method, however, had limited provisions to simulate simultaneously multiple modes of structure in HSI, to simulate human-human and human-environment interactions, and the movement pattern of the occupants/pedestrians.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes a substantial health burden among infants and older adults. Prefusion F protein-based vaccines have shown high efficacy against RSV disease in clinical trials, offering promise for mitigating this burden through maternal and older adult immunization. Employing an individual-based model, we evaluated the impact of RSV vaccination on hospitalizations and deaths in 13 high-income countries, assuming that the vaccine does not prevent infection or transmission.

Objectives: This study was performed to evaluate the utilization patterns of acid suppressants following the withdrawal of ranitidine in Korea.
Methods: Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA) data from January 2016 to May 2023 were utilized to assess the usage of histamine H2 receptor antagonists (H2RAs) and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) for acid-related diseases. Drug utilization was calculated for each agent based on the defined daily dose (DDD).
