Jingmen tick virus (JMTV) is a novel segmented Flavivirus that was first identified from Rhipicephalus microplus in the Jingmen region of Hubei Province, China, in 2010. Subsequently, it was detected in a variety of countries and regions around the world. Meanwhile, JMTV has been proved to be pathogenic to humans and animals and could cause viremia in animals.

Introduction: Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is an effective and injection-free route for allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT). Mesenchymal stromal/stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes (Exo) has been identified as a novel delivery platform with immunomodulatory capacities. In addition, targeting agents such as aptamers (Apt) have been extensively used for specific delivery approaches such as direct delivery of allergen formulations to dendritic cells (DC) to improve the efficacy of specific immunotherapy.

Respiratory disorders (RDs) are a common transport-related welfare consequence in horses. This prospective study described the journeys of horses transported to two slaughterhouses in Italy, documented the prevalence of potentially RD-related pathogens, and identified possible predisposing factors. Data were recorded from arrival until 48 h after arrival and included the collection of Deep Nasopharyngeal Swabs (DNS), journey details and welfare assessment of horses (n = 155).

Wide spectrum of tick-borne pathogens in juvenile Ixodes ricinus collected from autumn-migrating birds in the Vistula River Valley, Poland.

Background: Migratory birds serve as potential hosts for ticks and can be reservoirs of tick-borne pathogens (TBPs). The aim of our study was to investigate the prevalence of TBPs in juvenile Ixodes ricinus collected from Erithacus rubecula, Turdus merula, and Turdus philomelos passing through the Vistula River Valley, Poland - one of the most important European north-south routes for migratory birds.

Methods: To detect TBPs in collected ticks we used a high-throughput microfluidic real-time PCR method.

Background: Angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) acts as a key regulatory molecule and important therapeutic target in the pathological remodeling of numerous organs and diseases. In this study, a rapid, simple, and efficient synthetic route with a catalytic, F-for-Cl (F/Cl) exchange scheme was designed for the preparation of F-labeled MLN-4760, and its targeting ability was investigated in a humanized ACE2 mouse model.

Results: A novel F-labeled MLN-4760 radioligand, abbreviated as F-MLN-4760, was successfully synthesized by the F/Cl exchange-labeling, and was purified by SepPak C18 columns with a radiochemical yield of 30% and a radiochemical purity of 29.
