University of Virginia School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, Charlottesville, VA, USA.
Purpose: To describe ocular sarcoid-like reaction as a unique manifestation of paraneoplastic syndrome in the context of concurrent pulmonary sarcoid-like reaction and lung adenocarcinoma.
Methods: Single case report and narrative review.
Results: A 59-year-old male patient presented with a year-long history of diminished vision and weight loss.

Background: In patients with extrathoracic malignancies (ETM), granulomatous lymph adenopathy called sarcoid-like reactions (SLR) can be seen in the regional or draining lymph nodes. We hypothesized that SLR may be a sign of imminent metastasis and investigated the clinical course and rate of recurrence in patients with ETM and granulomatous mediastinal lymphadenopathy (MLN).
Methods: In this retrospective observational study, we reviewed the medical files of patients with known ETM and who underwent EBUS-TBNA for initial staging or detection of recurrence from 2011 to 2023.
Sarcoidosis Vasc Diffuse Lung Dis
March 2024
Background And Aim: Sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disease. Malignant tumors are accompanied rarely by granuloma reactions that mimic metastasis.
Methods: We present the case of a patient with possible advanced lung cancer with metastases to the mediastinal lymph nodes and bilateral ilia.

Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, USA.
Background: Oncologists are prescribing checkpoint inhibitors with greater frequency, and an awareness of and ability to recognize immune-related adverse events (irAEs) is a key part of the safe administration of these drugs.
Case Description: Herein, we report the case of a 26-year-old male diagnosed with metastatic right-sided colon cancer to the liver, with tumor immunohistochemistry demonstrating loss of and , and a pathogenic mutation in identified on germline testing, consistent with Lynch Syndrome. The patient received first-line treatment with pembrolizumab.

Sarcoid-like reaction (SLR) has been reported in patients with solid tumor malignancies, lymphomas, and patients receiving immunotherapy. SLR is often incidentally found during positron emission tomography/computed tomography scans as hilar and/or mediastinal lymphadenopathy. SLR has also been found in the lung, spleen, bone marrow, and skin.
