A rhodium-chiral diene complex immobilized on amphiphilic polystyrene-poly(ethylene glycol) (PS-PEG) resin (PS-PEG-diene*-Rh) has been developed. The immobilized rhodium-chiral diene complex (PS-PEG-diene*-Rh) efficiently catalyzed the asymmetric 1,4-addition of various arylboronic acids to cyclic or linear enones in water under batch conditions to give the corresponding β-arylated carbonyl compounds in excellent yields and with excellent enantioselectivity. The catalyst was readily recovered by simple filtration and reused 10 times without loss of its catalytic activity and enantioselectivity. Moreover, a continuous-flow asymmetric 1,4-addition in a flow reactor containing PS-PEG-diene*-Rh proceeded efficiently at 50 °C with retention of high enantioselectivity. Long-term continuous-flow asymmetric 1,4-addition during 12 h readily gave the desired product on a 10 g scale with high enantioselectivity.

A novel palladium-catalyzed allylic C-H alkylation of terminal olefins with 3-carboxamide oxindoles is described. A variety of new 3-carboxamide-3-allylation oxindoles with an all-carbon quaternary center were obtained in moderate to good yields (up to 99%). In addition, the asymmetric version of this reaction was also explored, providing moderate enantioselectivity.

As an indispensable member of the reticular material family, metal-carbon-based organometallic frameworks (OMFs) remain largely underexplored, and no chiral OMFs (COMFs) have been reported thus far. Herein, we first report the construction of COMFs from a Pd-isocyanide OMF via nucleophilic addition to the Pd-isocyanide moiety with optically pure amines. The obtained Pd-bis(acyclic diaminocarbene) (Pd-BADC)-derived chiral OMFs display excellent applicability and can be reusable chiral catalysts to highly promote asymmetric Strecker and Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions in a heterogeneous way.

It is under debate whether intersubjectivity-the capacity to experience a sense of togetherness around an action-is unique to humans. In humans, heavy tickling-a repeated body probing play that causes an automatic response including uncontrollable laughter (gargalesis)-has been linked to the emergence of intersubjectivity as it is aimed at making others laugh (self-generated responses are inhibited), it is often asymmetrical (older to younger subjects), and it elicits agent-dependent responses (pleasant/unpleasant depending on social bond). Intraspecific tickling and the related gargalesis response have been reported in humans, chimpanzees, and anecdotally in other great apes, potentially setting the line between hominids and other anthropoids.
