: Sjӧgren Syndrome is a disorder involving oral tissues, with xerostomia, dysgeusia, dysphagia, tooth decay, gingivitis, angular cheilitis and glossitis. Temporomandibular disorders are a generic term referred to clinical conditions involving the jaw muscles and temporomandibular joint. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of oral manifestations and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) in Sjӧgren Syndrome (SS) patients compared with healthy people. : The study group included 72 SS patients (2 men, 70 women) diagnosed according to the American-European Consensus Group (AECG) Criteria. A randomly selected group of 72 patients, matched by sex and age, served as control group. The examination for TMD signs and symptoms was based on the standardized Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC/TMD) through a questionnaire and clinical examination. : SS patients complained more frequently (95.8%) of oral symptoms (xerostomia, dysgeusia, dysphagia) than controls (22.2%) (χ= 80.66 < 0.001). TMD symptoms (muscle pain on chewing, difficulty in mouth opening, arthralgia, headaches, tinnitus) were complained by 91.7% of SS patients and by 84.7% of controls (χ= 1,667 = 0,196). At the clinical examination, 91,7% of SS had at least one oral sign respect to 75 % of controls. The salivary flow measurements showed high statistical significance between the two groups (Unpaired test, 0,0001). Myofascial pain caused by muscular contracture) was significantly higher in the study group than in the control one (≤ 0,05). Furthermore 18,05% of SS patients showed deflection versus 5,5% of controls (χ=5,402 =0,020). : Sjӧgren's Syndrome seems to play a role in temporomandibular joint disorders.

Introduction: Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) septic arthritis is a rare frequently misdiagnosed condition with non-specific symptoms. We present our experience of thirteen cases of TMJ septic arthritis and perform a systematic review of the literature to collate the multiple characteristics of this condition.
Material And Method: A total of 133 cases of TMJ septic arthritis in humans across 62 studies were analyzed by searching PubMed, Cochrane Library, DOAJ and ClinicalTrials.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) as the two major diseases are being focused by the public in modern societies. Previous epidemiological studies have shown increase in TMD prevalence during COVID-19 pandemic era. This study was aimed to verify the causal association between two sides using bidirectional mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.

Temporomandibular Disorders (TMDs) are pathologies based on multifactorial etiology and a biopsychosocial model, where anxiety becomes one of the most important psychological factors as it is the most frequent symptom presented in most of the population at some point in life. Taking into account the need for a multidisciplinary approach, we set out to evaluate the possible impact of orofacial pain on patients' quality of life. In this study, the sample population FROM the Medical School of the University of Coimbra (Portugal) was evaluated using two tools: Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorder (DC/TMD) and an adaptation of the West Haven-Yale Multidimensional Pain Inventory.

In orofacial pain patients, pain-related temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and neuropathic pain (NP) can both be present. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to examine whether in patients with orofacial pain, associations can be found between (subdiagnoses of) pain-related TMD and NP. Participants were asked to fill in the questionnaires of the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (DC/TMD) and a screening questionnaire for NP, the Douleur Neuropathique 4 (DN4).
