A 54-year-old man underwent right S6 segmentectomy for right lung cancer. After discharge, he presented with fever, hemoptysis, and cough, and computed tomography showed an intermediate bronchus fistula. Because direct closure or bronchoplasty was challenging, a Dumon (Novatech) stent was inserted directly into the fistula from the surgical field and covered with an autologous pericardial patch, pedicled mediastinal fat, and intercostal muscle.

Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is a challenging disease to manage, due to its highly recurring nature and the lack of a definitive treatment. It is characterized by the presence of benign papillomatous lesions caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which can pose a threat to the patient's airway patency and restrict their breathing ability. We present the case of a 64-year-old patient with a history of papillomas in the trachea and bronchi, treated with endobronchial cryotherapy.

Background/aim: Lung transplantation is the treatment of last resort for many chronic lung diseases. Airway complications (AC) following lung transplantation, such as bronchial stenosis, dehiscence, malacia, and fistula, account for frequent hospital admissions, additional treatment costs, decreased quality of life, and reduced survival rates. Beyond surgical and medical preventive efforts, interventional bronchoscopy (IB) can be used in the management of these complications.
