Research suggests that individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have significant difficulties with adaptive behavior skills including daily living and functional communication skills. Few studies have examined the developmental trajectory of adaptive behavior across childhood and adolescence. The present study examined longitudinal trajectories of adaptive behavior in a community-based clinic sample of 186 individuals with ASD. The overall pattern indicated an initial increase in adaptive behavior during early childhood followed by a plateau in skills during adolescence for individuals of all IQ groups. Given the importance of adaptive behavior for employment and quality of life, this study emphasizes the importance of targeting adaptive behavior during adolescence to insure continued gains.

The backbone extraction process is pivotal in expediting analysis and enhancing visualization in network applications. This study systematically compares seven influential statistical hypothesis-testing backbone edge filtering methods (Disparity Filter (DF), Polya Urn Filter (PF), Marginal Likelihood Filter (MLF), Noise Corrected (NC), Enhanced Configuration Model Filter (ECM), Global Statistical Significance Filter (GloSS), and Locally Adaptive Network Sparsification Filter (LANS)) across diverse networks. A similarity analysis reveals that backbones extracted with the ECM and DF filters exhibit minimal overlap with backbones derived from their alternatives.

We investigate the dynamics of the adaptive Kuramoto model with slow adaptation in the continuum limit, N→∞. This model is distinguished by dense multistability, where multiple states coexist for the same system parameters. The underlying cause of this multistability is that some oscillators can lock at different phases or switch between locking and drifting depending on their initial conditions.

Based on the expectile loss function and the adaptive LASSO penalty, the paper proposes and studies the estimation methods for the accelerated failure time (AFT) model. In this approach, we need to estimate the survival function of the censoring variable by the Kaplan-Meier estimator. The AFT model parameters are first estimated by the expectile method and afterwards, when the number of explanatory variables can be large, by the adaptive LASSO expectile method which directly carries out the automatic selection of variables.

Objectives: Disaster preparedness plays a vital role in mitigating risks and strengthening resilience of local communities in rural areas. This study examines the linkage between psychological factors and 4 kinds of disaster preparedness intentions and explores the challenges in translating intentions into actions.
Methods: This study utilized survey data from 325 households in Chongqing, China, that are threatened by geological disasters.

Background: Medical students face significant stress and challenges that impact their professional development by affecting their levels of medical professionalism (MP), coping ability, and mental well-being (MWB). Given the high-stakes environment of medical education, understanding the interplay between these factors is crucial. This study aims to explore undergraduate medical students' lived experiences of MP, coping strategies (CSs), and MWB to inform the development of effective support systems.
