Background: The impact of ixekizumab treatment for psoriasis on cardiovascular-related parameters in patients is unknown.
Objective: To investigate cardiovascular-related parameters in patients with psoriasis treated with ixekizumab.
Methods: In phase 3 trials, patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis were randomized and treated with placebo, ixekizumab, or etanercept during the induction period (weeks 0-12; UNCOVER-1, UNCOVER-2, and UNCOVER-3). At week 12, responders were rerandomized to receive placebo or ixekizumab through the maintenance period (weeks 12-60; UNCOVER-1 and UNCOVER-2). Laboratory measures (fasting lipid profiles, glucose level, or high-sensitivity C-reactive protein [hsCRP] level), weight, blood pressure, and electrocardiograms were obtained through 60 weeks.
Results: Baseline parameters were within normal ranges with the exception of elevated triglyceride and hsCRP levels. After maintenance dosing, no significant changes were observed versus placebo for total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, very-low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglyceride, apolipoprotein A1, apolipoprotein B, or fasting glucose levels or for systolic/diastolic blood pressure at 60 weeks. Importantly, low-density lipoprotein-to-high-density lipoprotein ratios remained stable during the induction and maintenance periods. HsCRP concentrations were significantly reduced versus placebo at 12 weeks and remained reduced at 60 weeks, although not significantly. Although transient changes were observed for some parameters during the induction period, these changes did not persist into the maintenance period.
Limitations: A lack of echocardiogram evaluations.
Conclusions: Ixekizumab had a neutral impact on cardiovascular-related parameters in patients with psoriasis.

Background: Infertility is a significant issue in spinal cord injury (SCI) patients. Men with SCI often experience erectile and ejaculatory dysfunctions, and low sperm quality leading to impaired fertility. In this study, we investigated the effectiveness of Erythropoietin (EPO)alginate/chitosan (CH-AL) hydrogel on SCI-induced male rat infertility.

Background: Oral nutritional supplements (ONS) are commonly prescribed to provide protein and energy to hemodialysis (HD) patients. There is a debate about the appropriate timing to administer ONS. We aimed to study the effect of different timings of ONS on variable outcomes in HD patients.

Objective: Using F-FDG PET/CT metabolic parameters to differentiate post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) and reactive lymphoid hyperplasia (RLH), and PTLD subtypes.
Methods: F-FDG PET/CT and clinical data from 63 PTLD cases and 19 RLH cases were retrospectively collected. According to the 2017 WHO classification, PTLD was categorized into four subtypes: nondestructive (ND-PTLD), polymorphic (P-PTLD), monomorphic (M-PTLD), and classic Hodgkin.

Objectives: Pancreatic duct leaks can cause ascites, and fluid amylase can be used as a marker to suggest pancreatic duct leak; however, there is no reference parameter or cutoff value for diagnosis. We assessed whether a novel ratio of ascitic fluid to serum amylase can reliably predict pancreatic leaks and need for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
Materials And Methods: Patients who had fluid amylase from ascitic fluid and serum amylase within one week of confirmed pancreatic leaks via ERCP were included along with appropriate medical and surgical controls.

Background: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the lower limb is a significant clinical challenge with the potential for recurrence, which can lead to increased morbidity and reduced quality of life.
Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted involving 367 patients diagnosed with lower limb DVT from June 2020 to June 2023. Patients were categorized into a recurrence group ( = 121) and a non-recurrence group ( = 246) based on DVT occurrence.
