The rapid development and deployment of mRNA and non-mRNA COVID-19 vaccines have played a pivotal role in mitigating the global pandemic. Despite their success in reducing severe disease outcomes, emerging concerns about cardiovascular complications have raised questions regarding their safety. This systematic review critically evaluates the evidence on the cardiovascular effects of COVID-19 vaccines, assessing both their protective and adverse impacts, while considering the challenges posed by the limited availability of randomized controlled trial (RCT) data on these rare adverse events.

Background: Numerous studies have demonstrated limited survival benefits of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) alone in the treatment of intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) beyond up-to-seven criteria. The advent of immunotherapy, particularly immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), has opened new avenues for HCC treatment. Background: Fulminant myocarditis (FM) is a potentially lethal disease with a wide spectrum of clinical presentation, thus making the diagnosis hard to depict. In cases where acute circulatory failure occurs venoarterial (VA) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support is a valid management strategy, especially in the pediatric and adult patients. Our case report characterizes a rare presentation of mid-ventricular Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC) in a patient with suspected myocarditis as an underlying cause. Mid-ventricular TTC is a rare variant of TTC presenting with overlapping symptoms and physical exam findings of acute coronary syndrome, which often leads to misdiagnosis as myocardial infarction. Our case is of a 77-year-old female patient with a history of hyperlipidemia, right breast ductal carcinoma in situ, and diverticular disease who presented to the emergency department for evaluation of chest pain radiating to the jaw with associated nausea and vomiting.

Piscine orthoreovirus-1 and 3 (PRV-1, PRV-3) cause highly prevalent infection in cultured salmonids and can induce heart and skeletal muscle inflammation (HSMI) resulting in economic losses in aquaculture. However, to date, PRV-1 and PRV-3 have withstood replication in continuous cell lines. In this study, we used beating heart cell cultures obtained from different developmental stages of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) (RTC-L and RTC-A) and tested their ability to sustain replication of PRV-1 and PRV-3.
