THP1 and U937 are monocytic cell lines that are common bioassays to reflect monocyte and macrophage activities in inflammation research. However, THP-1 is a human monocytic leukemia cell line, and U937 originates from pleural effusion of histiocytic lymphoma; thus, even though they serve as bioassay in inflammation research, their response to agonists is not identical. Consequently, there has yet to be a consensus about the panel of strongly regulated genes in THP1 and U937 cells representing the inflammatory response to LPS and IFNG.

Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with tobacco smoking and biomass-burning smoke exposure. Toll-like receptor 4 () single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) may contribute to its pathogenesis. The study aimed to assess the association of rs4986790 and rs4986791 in the gene in a Mexican mestizo population with COPD secondary to tobacco smoking (COPD-TS) and biomass-burning smoke (COPD-BBS) and to evaluate whether the genotypes of risk affect cytokine serum levels.

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in females. Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have proposed cervical cancer susceptibility variants at the HLA locus on chromosome 6p21. To corroborate these findings and investigate their functional impact in cervical tissues and cell lines, we genotyped nine variants from cervical cancer GWASs (rs17190106, rs535777, rs1056429, rs2763979, rs143954678, rs113937848, rs3117027, rs3130214, and rs9477610) in a German hospital-based series of 1122 invasive cervical cancers, 1408 dysplasias, and 1196 healthy controls.

The dog is an important companion animal and also serves as model species for human diseases. Given the central role of T cells in immune responses, a basic understanding of canine conventional T cell receptor (TCR)αβ T cells, comprising CD4 single-positive (sp) T helper (Th) and CD8α sp cytotoxic T cell subsets, is available. However, characterization of canine non-conventional TCRαβ CD4CD8α double-positive (dp) and TCRαβ CD4CD8α double-negative (dn) T cells is limited.

Antimicrobial resistance poses considerable issues for current clinical care, so the modified use of antimicrobial agents and public health initiatives, coupled with new antimicrobial approaches, may help to minimize the impact of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria in the future. This study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory activities of , , and their chitosan nanocomposites against extensive drug-resistant (XDR) and vancomycin-resistant (VRSA) using both in vitro and in vivo assays. The in vitro antimicrobial susceptibilities of and VRSA strains revealed 100% sensitivity to imipenem (100%).
