Wilson's disease is a rare genetic disorder in which copper accumulates in tissues. Its victims must adhere to a strict dietary regimen yielding less than 2 mg of copper per day. Three major variables have been identified as being of critical importance in the treatment of these patients: the amount of copper naturally occurring in foods, the amount of copper introduced during the preparation of foods, and the amount of copper in the environment. An environmental variable that rarely has been addressed is the amount of copper in dental restorations. A case report is presented to discuss the possible consequences of copper-containing dental restorations for the patient with Wilson's disease.

Determination of hydrogen peroxide (HO) is of great importance in many systems for controlling the quality of products, food safety, and medical diagnostics. In this work, a highly sensitive photoluminescence film sensor was synthesized based on chitosan (CS), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and terephthalic acid (TPA), in the presence of copper (II) ions for determination of hydrogen peroxide. TPA was used as a sensitive probe for detection of hydroxyl radicals produced in a photo-Fenton-like process.

Brochantite was precipitated using stoichiometric amounts of CuSO and NaOH and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, specific surface area, thermogravimetric analysis, and zeta potential. Brochantite can be converted into paratacamite, basic copper bromide, and copper phthalate by shaking the powder with solutions containing excess corresponding anions. By contrast, attempts to convert brochantite into basic iodide, acetate, nitrate, or rhodanide in a similar way failed, that is, the powder after shaking with solutions containing excess corresponding anions still showed the powder X-ray diffraction pattern of brochantite.

Disturbances in intracellular copper (Cu) homeostasis can trigger cuproptosis, a new form of cell death, which, when combined with photothermal therapy (PTT), offers a promising solution to the persistent challenges in colorectal cancer (CRC) treatment. In this study, a "three-level nanoparticle rocket" strategy is developed by engineering CuO, a multifunctional Cu-based nanoenzyme that is photothermal and has electron transfer properties and antioxidant efficiency. CuO effectively remodels the inflammatory environment by scavenging reactive oxygen species, thereby overcoming the traditional limitations of PTT.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are hybrid inorganic-organic 3D coordination polymers with metal sites and organic linkers, which are a "hot" topic in the research of sorption, separations, catalysis, sensing, and environmental remediation. In this study, we explore the molecular mechanism and kinetics of interaction of the new copper porphyrin aluminum metal-organic framework (actAl-MOF-TCPPCu) compound with a vapor of the volatile organic sulfur compound (VOSC) diethyl sulfide (DES).
