Three-dimensional indolines possessing two contiguous-stereogenic centers were obtained stereoselectively via the FeCl-mediated dearomative introduction of two allyl groups to N-acylindoles with allyltrimethylsilane. Synthetic transformations allowed obtention of trans-tetrahydrocarbazoles and an aza[4.4.3]propellane scaffold by RCM. Selective hydration of one of the allyl groups was also achieved.

Extracts from natural waste like bark or leaves are great sources of phytochemicals, which contain functional groups (hydroxyl, carboxylic, vinyl, allyl) attractive in terms of polymer synthesis. In this study, the synthesis of epoxy with an extract of Scots pine bark as a natural co-hardener was evaluated. Ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy was used for the identification of phytochemicals with conjugated dienes and quantification of TPC.

The asymmetric Tsuji-Trost reaction has been extensively studied due to its importance in establishing stereogenic centers, often adjacent to an -olefin moiety in organic molecules. The generally preferential formation of chiral -olefin products is believed to result from the thermodynamically more stable -π-allylpalladium intermediate. The rapid associative π-σ-π isomerization makes it challenging to synthesize chiral -olefin products via the transient -π-allylpalladium intermediate.

The ever-increasing demand in chemical biology and medicinal research requires the development of new synthetic methods for the rapid construction of libraries of heterocycles from simple raw materials. In this context, the utilization of primary amines or HO as the simple - or -sources in the assembly of a heterocyclic ring skeleton is highly desirable from the viewpoint of atom- and step-economy. Herein, we describe a highly efficient three-component reaction of diazo, allylic diacetates, and commercially available anilines (or HO) to access structurally diverse pyrrolidine and tetrahydrofuran derivatives.

Well-defined amorphous/semi-crystalline statistical copolymers of n-dodecyl isocyanate, DDIC, and allyl isocyanate, ALIC, were synthesized via coordination polymerization using the chiral half-titanocene complex CpTiCl(O-(S)-2-Bu) as an initiator. In the frame of the terminal model, the monomer reactivity ratios of the statistical copolymers were calculated using both well-known linear graphical methods and the computer program COPOINT. The molecular and structural characteristics of the copolymers were also calculated.

Isothiocyanates (ITCs), found in edible plants such as cruciferous vegetables, are a group of reactive organo-sulfur phytochemicals produced by the hydrolysis of precursors known as glucosinolates. ITCs have been studied extensively both in vivo and in vitro to define their therapeutic potential for the treatment of chronic health conditions. Therapeutically, they have shown an intrinsic ability to inhibit oxidative and inflammatory phenotypes to support enhanced health.
