In a paper awarded 'Best Member Paper' at the 2016 Institute of Hospital Engineering, Australia (IHEA) National Conference held at the Adelaide Oval last October, Mark Hooper BEng, executive project manager at Echuca Regional Health in Victoria, Australia, describes a A$66 million redevelopment project at the hospital--which is located in the historic port town of Echuca on the Murray river, two and a half hours north of Melbourne. He highlights some of the significant innovation that went into the project, in areas including plant operation and maintenance, emergency planning, resilience, and patient and staff comfort.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a well-established treatment option for patients with severe aortic valve stenosis; however, clinical valve thrombosis is a major challenge.
Case Summary: A 92-year-old woman underwent TAVR for severe aortic stenosis. One month later, the patient developed acute heart failure.
Despite the prevalence and the impact on quality of life of dermatological indications, drug products to treat such conditions have rarely been blockbusters. The prevailing perception of a limited commercial potential of dermatological drug products has restricted innovation and encouraged a more conservative development approach. For example, the focus was on repurposing/reformulation of existing active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) specifically for the topical delivery route.
