The optical properties of alternating ultrathin TiO nanosheets and CdS nanoparticle hybrid spherical structures designed by the layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly technique are investigated. From the photoluminescence (PL) spectral measurements on the hybrid spherical structures, a spectrum-shifted fluorescence emission occurs in this novel hybrid material. The time-resolved PL measurements exhibit a remarkably increased PL lifetime of 3.75 ns compared with only TiO spheres or CdS nanoparticles. The novel results were attributed to the enhanced electron-hole separation due to the new type II indirect optical transition mechanism between TiO and CdS in a charge-separated configuration.

The effects of 5.8-GHz microwave (MW) irradiation on the synthesis of mesoporous selenium nanoparticles (mSeNPs) in aqueous medium by reduction of selenite ions with ascorbic acid, using zinc nanoparticles as a hard template and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a micellar template, are examined for the first time with a particular emphasis on MW-particle interactions and the NPs morphology. This MW-assisted synthesis is compared to 2.

In this study, the rhombohedral crystalline pure phase BiFeO (BFO) of irregularly shaped spherical particles of ≈100 nm and energy bandgap of ≈2.31 eV are synthesized by sol-gel auto-combustion method and explored as electrode material for photo-assisted supercapacitor. The electronic structure studies revealed that the coexistence of heterovalent Bi and Fe elements accelerated the electrochemical redox kinetics and photo-assisted charge storage properties.

Janus micro- and nanoparticles, featuring unique dual-interface designs, are at the forefront of rapidly advancing fields such as optics, medicine, and chemistry. Accessible control over the position and orientation of Janus particles within a cluster is crucial for unlocking versatile applications, including targeted drug delivery, self-assembly, micro- and nanomotors, and asymmetric imaging. Nevertheless, precise mechanical manipulation of Janus particles remains a significant practical challenge across these fields.

The conversion of abundant lignin was of great significance for the utilization of biomass resources. In this study, lignin sulfonate (LS) was selected as a carbon-based support, which was successfully introduced into the NiCo-MOF structure. A series of lignin and MOF hybrid catalysts (NiCo-MOF-LS) with varying metal ratios of Ni and Co were synthesized via the hydrothermal method.

Tunable redox-sensitive polymeric-lipid hybrid nanocarriers (RS-PLHNCs) were fabricated using homogenization and nanoprecipitation methods. These nanocarriers were composed of novel redox-cholesterol with disulfide linkages and synthesized by conjugating cholesterol with dithiodipropionic acid esterification. Berberine (BBR) was loaded into the fabricated nanocarriers to investigate the selective uptake of BBR by cancer cells as well as its release and enhanced cytotoxicity.
