Objective: This study aims to report and confirm long-term effectiveness and safety of stereotactic Gamma Knife Surgery as a primary sole treatment in the management of 40 glomus jagulare tumors patients.

Patients And Methods: Retrospective analysis of clinical and radiological outcomes of 40 GJTs consecutive patients treated with GKS as primary sole treatment at International Medical Center (IMC), Cairo-Egypt from the beginning of 2005 till the end of 2014,with mean follow-up period of 84 months (range 36-156 months), mean tumor volume was 6.5 cc, and mean peripheral radiation dose of 15 Gy, to mean isodose curve of 38%.

Results: The most common neurological deficit at initial evaluation was bulbar symptoms in 24 patients, followed by pulsatile tinnitus in 22, deterioration of hearing in 20 patients. The overall clinical control achieved in 92.5% of patients, while actuarial tumor size control rate post- GKS was 97.5% at 3 years, 97% at 5 years and 92% at 10 years of follow-up period.

Conclusions: Gamma knife surgery could be used effectively and safely as a primary sole treatment tool in the management of glomus jugulare tumors.

An atmospheric oxygen-mediated oxidative coupling of primary and secondary alcohols for the synthesis of nitrogen-containing heterocycles has been developed. This method utilizes atmospheric oxygen as the sole, environmentally friendly oxidant to convert a variety of alkyl and aromatic primary alcohols into aldehyde equivalents, avoiding over-oxidation to carboxylic acids. Notably, these mild oxidation conditions are compatible with both primary and secondary alkyl alcohols as substrates.

Pocket hematoma is a common and serious complication following cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation, contributing to significant morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a novel pocket compression device in reducing pocket hematoma occurrence. We enrolled 242 patients undergoing CIED implantation, randomly assigning them to receive either the novel compression vest with a pressure cuff or conventional sandbag compression.

Gut microbiota disruptions after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (alloHCT) are associated with increased risk of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD). We designed a randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial to test whether healthy-donor fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) early after alloHCT reduces the incidence of severe aGVHD. Here, we report the results from the single-arm run-in phase which identified the best of 3 stool donors for the randomized phase.

Purpose: The primary objective of this study was to investigate the possible role and assess the potential relationship of speculum use during phacoemulsification surgery in the occurrence of blepharoptosis.

Methods: Our study is a prospective observational design to analyze patients who underwent phacoemulsification surgery under topical anesthesia between October 2017 and May 2018 at a tertiary eye hospital in South India. All patients had their Margin Reflex Distance 1 (MRD1), levator palpebrae superioris (LPS) function, and lid crease distance (LCD) measured before and after surgery on day one, one month, three months, and six months to evaluate the extent of ptosis at each time point that was recorded clinically and photographic documentation for accurate evaluation.
