Alternating anodic and cathodic current pulses have been applied to a metal powder on an electrode surface to fuse the particles together. It is shown that homogeneous films can be electroformed with different morphologies depending on the size of the powder and the experimental conditions.

Axonal fusion represents an efficient way to recover function after nerve injury. However, how axonal fusion is induced and regulated remains largely unknown. We discover that ferroptosis signaling can promote axonal fusion and functional recovery in C.

Mitochondria dysfunction plays a central role in the development of vascular diseases as oxidative stress promotes alterations in mitochondrial morphology and function that contribute to disease progression. Redox imbalances can affect normal cellular processes including mitochondrial biogenesis, electrochemical equilibrium, and the regulation of mitochondrial DNA. In this review, we will discuss these imbalances and, in particular, the potential role of mitochondrial fusion, fission, biogenesis, and mitophagy in the context of vascular diseases and how the dysregulation of normal function might contribute to disease progression.

Nuclear receptor coactivator 4 (NCOA4)-mediated ferritinophagy contributes to maintain intracellular iron balance by regulating ferritin degradation, which is essential for redox homeostasis. CXC-motif chemokine receptor 3 (CXCR3) is involved in the regulation of oxidative stress and autophagy. However, its role in modulating intestinal oxidative damage through ferritinophagy and the gut microbiota remains unclear.

We demonstrate an early mechanistic role of mitochondria in initiating neoplasticity by performing quantitative analyses of structure-function of single mitochondrial components coupled with single cell transcriptomics. We demonstrate that the large Hyperfused-Mitochondrial-Networks (HMNs) of keratinocytes promptly get converted to the heterogenous Small-Mitochondrial-Networks (SMNs) as the stem cell enriching dose of the model carcinogen, TCDD, depolarizes mitochondria.

Ca overload and mitochondrial dysfunction play crucial roles in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Piezo1, a mechanosensitive cation channel, is essential for intracellular Ca homeostasis. The objective of this research was to explore the effects of Piezo1 on mitochondrial function during myocardial I/R injury.
