Being involved in a complaint or serious incident can be a huge stress for a doctor, whether a trainee or consultant. When affected, it is important to be able to look for the support of a colleague or a more senior person, and just as importantly, those not directly involved need to know what to do to provide support. In this piece I consider what 'support' really means, I provide some tips on what to do and what not to do, and I consider how incidents and complaints can need different approaches.

Background: The proportion of people living with HIV (PLHIV) in Guangxi who are men who have sex with men (MSM) increased rapidly to nearly 10% in 2023; notably, over 95% of this particular population is currently receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART). This study aimed to describe the survival of MSM PLHIV, depict the characteristics and trends of changes in CD4 T cell counts, CD4/CD8 T cell ratio, and viral load, and explore immunological indicators that may be related to mortality during different stages of treatment.
Methods: Immunological indicators of MSM PLHIV receiving ART were extracted and categorized into baseline, mid-treatment, and last values.

Clinical endpoints caused by hyperlipoproteinemia include atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and acute pancreatitis. Emerging lipid-lowering therapies targeting proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin 9 (PCSK9), lipoprotein(a), apolipoprotein C-III, and angiopoietin-like protein 3 represent promising advances in the management of patients with hyperlipoproteinemia. These therapies offer novel approaches for lowering pathogenic lipid and lipoprotein species, particularly in patients with serious perturbations who are not adequately controlled with conventional treatments or who are unable to tolerate them.

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a serious inflammatory disease with high incidence rate and mortality. It was confirmed that overactivation of autophagy in acinar cells can increase the risk of AP. Nevertheless, the regulatory mechanism of autophagy in AP is unclear.

Enterococcus faecalis is responsible for numerous serious infections, and treatment options often include ampicillin combined with an aminoglycoside or dual beta-lactam therapy with ampicillin and a third-generation cephalosporin. The mechanism of dual beta-lactam therapy relies on the saturation of penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). Ceftobiprole exhibits high affinity binding to nearly all E.

Background: Zoonotic transmission of livestock-associated methicillin-resistant clonal complex 398 (LA-MRSA CC398) from industrial pig farms to farm workers and their household members and secondary transmission to elderly and immunocompromised persons has led to a growing number of serious infections and even death.
Objective: We tested the hypothesis that conventional pig farms confer a higher risk for LA-MRSA CC398 carriage among farm workers and their household members than specific pathogen-free (SPF) farms, which follow a set of stringent rules concerning biosecurity, health control and transportation of pigs between herds.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of farm workers and their household members from 25 Danish pig farms positive for LA-MRSA CC398.
