Nowadays, the majority of world population lives in urban areas and this portion is going to increase in the coming decades. The health impact of urban areas is well established and described in scientific literature. Italian health and hygiene legislation dealing with urban health is fragmented and not coordinated with the regulation about environment and city planning. The overlapping of legal competences between different authorities and the conflict of attribution between the Central State and Regional Governments deeply contributed to generate uncertainty. The authors here analyse the Italian regulatory framework and depict its lacks in terms of public health protection.

Background And Objective: Relevant research has provided valuable insights into risk factors for bicycle crashes at intersections. However, few studies have focused explicitly on three common types of bicycle crashes on road segments: overtaking, rear-end, and door crashes. This study aims to identify risk factors for overtaking, rear-end, and door crashes that occur on road segments.

Objective: To determine whether there are differences in healthcare utilization for chronic pain based on location (rural vs urban/suburban) or healthcare system (civilians vs Military Service Members and Veterans [SMVs]) after moderate-severe TBI.
Setting: Eighteen Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems (TBIMS) Centers.
Participants: A total of 1,741 TBIMS participants 1 to 30 years post-injury reporting chronic pain at their most recent follow-up interview.

We assessed the real-world particulate emissions of a goods movement diesel vehicle, with an emphasis on total particle number and solid particle number emissions at different cutoff sizes. The vehicle was tested on routes in the South Coast Air Basin (SCAB) of California, representative of typical goods movement operation between the ports to warehouses and logistic centers with a mixture of urban and highway driving, as well as elevation change. We evaluated emissions during normal vehicle operation and diesel particulate filter (DPF) active regeneration events.

Extracellular hydrolytic activity (phospholipase, protease and hemolysin production) was evaluated in 178 strains of potentially pathogenic ascomycetous (Candida parapsilosis, Candida tropicalis) and basidiomycetous (Rhodotorula mucilaginosa) yeasts isolated from the excreta of Mew Gulls. Two bird colonies, one nesting in a natural habitat and the other in an urban habitat at the landfill, were studied simultaneously during their 7-month breeding season. Significant differences in phospholipase and protease production were found between natural and anthropophized strains.
