Cholecystectomy is one of the most commonly performed surgical operations worldwide. A rare complication following this procedure is the migration of surgical clips used to secure the cystic duct and artery. Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is the most prevalent painful condition in the craniofacial area. Recent studies have suggested that external or intrinsic trauma to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is associated with the onset of painful TMD in patients. Here, we investigated the effects of TMJ trauma through forced-mouth opening (FMO) in mice to determine pain behaviors and peripheral sensitization of trigeminal nociceptors in both sexes.

Transplantation of induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neural cells represents a promising strategy for treating neurodegenerative diseases. However, reprogramming of somatic cells and their subsequent neural differentiation is complex and time-consuming, thereby impeding autologous applications. Recently, direct transcription factor-based conversion of blood cells into induced neural stem cells (iNSCs) has emerged as a potential alternative.

Isolated single cardiomyocytes are commonly used to understand fundamental cardiac cell physiology and cell signaling at the molecular level. The protocol to isolate cardiomyocytes is under continual optimization between laboratories, despite being conducted for many years. The delicate nature of these cells coinciding with laboratory equipment variations can make the consistency of isolation challenging.
