Article Abstract
For environmental reason, buildings increasingly install smart windows, which can dim incoming daylight based on active electrochromic devices (ECDs). In this work, multi-layered graphene (MLG) was investigated as an ECD window electrode, to minimize carbon dioxide (CO) emissions by decreasing the electricity consumption for building space cooling and heating and as an alternative to the transparent conductor tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) in order to decrease dependence on it. Various MLG electrodes with different numbers of graphene layers were prepared with environmentally friendly poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene-sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) to produce ECD cells. Tests demonstrated the reproducibility and uniformity in optical performance, as well as the flexibility of the ECD fabrication. With the optimized MLG electrode, the ECD cells exhibited a very fast switching response for optical changes from transparent to dark states of a few hundred msec.

An unusual C15nor-halimane-type diterpenoid, norcrohalane A (1), a new nor-lasserane-type sesquiterpenoid, norcrolasane A (2), along with four known compounds (3-6) were isolated from the roots of Croton crassifolius. Compound 1 represents the first example of a C15nor-halimane-type diterpenoid, which features a rare 6/6/6 tricyclic ring system, and the A ring is aromatic. Compound 2 is a rare nor-lasserane-type sesquiterpenoid.

Eleven new chromane meroterpenoids (1-11), along with 24 known ones (12-35) were isolated from Rhododendron capitatum, a Tibetan medicine. Their structures were determined via extensive spectroscopic methods. The absolute configurations of 1 and 2 were determined by comparison of the experimental and theoretically calculated ECD data.

Six undescribed sesquiterpene lactones (1-6) and fifteen known compounds (7-21) were isolated from Seriphidium transiliense. The chemical structures were determined by extensive NMR spectroscopic data, HRESIMS, ECD and X-ray diffraction. Among the known compounds, twelve known compounds were isolated for the first time from this plant, including taurine (9), 11-epitaurin (10), α-santonin (11), artesin (13), 11-epiartesin (14), 1α-hydroxy-3β-acetoxyeudesm-4-en-6β, 7α, 11βH-12, 6-olide (15), 1α-hydroxy-3β-acetoxyeudesm-4-en-6β, 7α, 11αH-12, 6-olide (16), artegallin (17), 8α-hydroxytaurin (18), 8α-acetoxytaurine (19), methyl-4α-hydroxy-11(13)-eudesmen-12-oatesaniculamoid D (20), and saniculamoid D (21).

Two unprecedented sesquiterpene and monoterpene heterodimers and ten previously undescribed sesquiterpenoids, artemordosins A-L (1-12), as well as ten known sesquiterpenoids (13-22), were obtained from Artemisia ordosica. Their structures were elucidated based on comprehensive analyses of NMR, IR, HRESIMS, GIAO NMR calculations with DP4+ probability analysis, and ECD calculations. Notably, artemordosins A and B (1 and 2) were the first examples of cadinane-monoterpene dimers, and artemordosin A (1) was a cadinane-myrceane heterodimer with a 6/6/6/6 ring system formed by [4 + 2] cycloaddition, while artemordosin B (2) was a 4,5-seco-cadinane-artemisane dimer connected through a C-5-O-C-4' linkage.

Seven compounds(1-7) were isolated from Isodon henryi through silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, ODS, MCI column chromatography and semi-preparative HPLC. Their structures were identified as isogallicacid(1), caffeic acid(2), syringic acid(3), protocatechuic acid(4), oresbiusin A(5), lophanthoside A(6), and 8-hydroxypinoresinol(7), by spectroscopic techniques including HR-MS, IR, UV, NMR, and ECD. Compound 1 was a new galloyl derivative.
