High-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC) was used to separate and purify two isoflavones for the first time from () mycelium using a two-phase solvent system composed of chloroform-dichloromethane-methanol-water (4:2:3:2, ///). These two isoflavones were identified as genistein (4',5,7-trihydroxyisoflavone, CHO₅) and daidzein (4',7-dihydroxyisoflavone, CHO₄), using infrared spectroscopy (IR), electro-spary ionisation mass (ESI-MS), ¹H-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and C-NMR spectra. About 23 mg genistein with 95.7% purity and 18 mg daidzein with 97.3% purity were isolated from 150 mg ethanolic extract of mycelium. The results demonstrated that HSCCC was a feasible method to separate and purify genistein and daidzein from mycelium.

is a lesser-known plant species belonging to the genus that grows in Kazakhstan. The aim of this study was to characterize the composition of the ethanolic, water, and hydroethanolic extracts from the aerial parts of by HPLC-ESI-QTOF-MS/MS to isolate the major compound isoquercitrin by HSCCC (High-Speed Counter-Current Chromatography) and to determine the cytotoxicity and anti-inflammatory potential of the extracts produced with this plant. Fingerprinting of the analyzed extracts showed the presence of a multitude of metabolites comprising polyphenols, organic acids, and coumarins, and only trace quantities of cardiac glycosides in the analyzed samples.

Article Synopsis
  • The study used Novozyme 435 lipase to perform a biocatalytic transesterification reaction on esculin, aimed at increasing its hydrophobicity and improving solubility for commercial use.
  • The reaction occurred at 60 °C and produced two main products: a monoacylated and a diacylated form of esculin, with the diacylated form being the dominant product at a conversion rate of 53.55%.
  • Both products were purified using high-speed counter-current chromatography and characterized by NMR, demonstrating a fast and efficient method for enhancing the practical applications of esculin through the creation of acetylated derivatives.

has long been favored for its remarkable nutritional and health-promoting benefits, and erinacine A is the key component responsible for the neuroprotective properties of . Establishing an efficient method for separating erinacine A from and screening the erinacine A-enriched strains is crucial to maximizing its benefits. Herein, we first reported that high-speed counter current chromatography (HSCCC) is an effective method for separating high-purity erinacine A.

Efficient rare earth element (REE) separations are becoming increasingly important to technologies ranging from renewable energy and high-performance magnets to applied radioisotope separations. These separations are made challenging by the extremely similar chemical and physical characteristics of the individual elements, which almost always occupy the 3+ oxidation state under ambient conditions. Herein, we discuss the development of a novel REE separation aimed at obtaining purified samples of neodymium (Nd) on a multi-milligram scale using high-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC).
