Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) as potential biomarkers for ischemic heart disease, particularly how they relate to different patterns of coronary artery blockages.
  • Researchers will assess 100 patients with chest pain through invasive physiological evaluations like fractional flow reserve (FFR) and index of microvascular resistance (IMR) to categorize them based on their coronary health.
  • The findings aim to link specific miRNA profiles to particular patterns of coronary affectation, enhancing the understanding of the underlying mechanisms in coronary diseases.

Here we present the case of a 60-year-old patient with sinus node disease (NSS), symptomatic with dizziness and angor. The electrocardiogram showed episodes of sinus pauses with nodal escapes. During hospitalization, pending the placement of a definitive pacemaker, cilostazol (100 mg every 12 hours orally) was indicated, observing an increase in heart rate 48 hours after starting the medication, and the disappearance of sinus pauses in the 24 hours Holter.

[Vasospastic angina: An under-diagnosed pathology].

Ann Cardiol Angeiol (Paris)

November 2019

Centre hospitalier Saint-Quentin, 1, rue Michel de l'Hôpital, 02100 Saint-Quentin, France.

The clinical and physiopathological clinical entity known as spastic angina or variant angina has been long documented. It remains, however, an under-estimated condition, which is insufficiently diagnosed and explored. This pathology is associated with severe complications such as heart rhythm disorders, which may potentially result in ventricular fibrillation and cause sudden death.

Cardioprotective Mechanisms of Hypothyroidism on Ischemia/Reperfusion in Rats and Effects of Carvedilol: Energetic Study.

J Cardiovasc Pharmacol Ther

January 2020

Cátedra de Farmacología, Grupo de Farmacología Experimental y Energética Cardíaca, Departamento de Ciencias Biológicas, Facultad de Ciencias Exactas, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, La Plata, Argentina.

Hypothyroidism is considered a cardiac risk factor, but there is controversial evidence about its effects on coronary disease. The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of hypothyroidism in rat hearts exposed to 2 degrees of stunning due to ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) as well as the underlying mechanisms. Hypothyroid (HypoT) rats were obtained by drinking 0.

The aim of the study was to investigate the expression of miR-155 in plasma and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), the effects of miR-155 on the apoptosis rate of PBMCs and the extent of coronary stenosis in coronary artery disease patients. Seventy chest pain patients were divided into three groups by symptoms, signs, auxiliary examination and coronary arteriography: 21 cases in the acute myocardial infarction group (AMI), 23 cases in the Angor pectoris group (AP) and 26 cases in the control group (CT). The peripheral blood mononuclear cells of the patients in the three groups were separated for cell culture.
