Through metal-free protocol, hypercrosslinked porous polyporphyrin with permanent porosity was obatined via the Friedel-Crafts alkylation of tetracarbazolylporphyrin using formaldehyde dimethyl acetal as an external cross-linker. Its chemical structure and porosity was well characterized and confirmed. The BET specific surface area value of is 1050 m g and related dominant pore size is centered at 0.63 nm. The adsorption amount of methanol by is high up to 800 mg g (about 25.0 mmol g) at its saturated vapor pressure, which is higher than that of toluene (600 mg g, 6.5 mmol g). Further study indicates that polymer , possessing the high BET specific surface area and total pore volume, exhibits good hydrogen uptake of 3.44 wt % (77 K) and high carbon dioxide uptake of 41.1 wt % (298 K) at 18.0 bar. Besides, the obtained porous polymer can also be used as an effective heterogeneous catalyst for the Knoevenagel condensation between various aldehydes and malononitrile.

Radioactive iodine, a key waste product of nuclear energy, has been a significant concern among nuclear materials because of its high volatility and its ability to easily enter the human metabolism. Porous materials containing a large number of N-heterocyclic units such as carbazole in the skeletons use as effective adsorbents showing high iodine capture capacities. Herein, a new carbazole-bismaleimide-based hyper-cross-linked porous organic polymer (CzBMI-POP) was successfully prepared from a new tetra-armed carbazole-maleimide monomer (Bis-Cz(BMI)), which contains biscarbazole units and maleimide side groups.

To effectively control food safety risks caused by nitroimidazoles (NDZs), a sensitive detection method was established on the basis of a newly-developed solid-phase extraction (SPE) sorbent named as Phl-TBM that is a porous polymer prepared by crosslinking natural phloretin with (2,4,6-tris(bromomethyl)mesitylene. The Phl-TBM presented outstanding NDZs adsorption capacity, which can be ascribed to its well-developed porosity and multiple hydrogen bonding sites. With Phl-TBM as SPE sorbent, NDZs were successfully isolated and enriched from lake water, Basa fish, and beef before being assayed by high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector.

The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) are considered to be the most important processes in metal-air batteries and regenerative fuel cell devices. Metal-organic polymers are attracting interest as promising precursors of advanced metal/carbon electrocatalysts because of their hierarchical porous structure along with the integrated metal-carbon framework. We developed carbon-coated CNTs with Ni/Fe and Cu/Fe as active sites.

Nanoporous organic polymers (NPOPs) have emerged as versatile materials with robust thermal stability, large surface area (up to 2500 m g), and customizable porosity, making them ideal candidates for advanced hydrogen (H) storage applications. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of various NPOPs, including covalent organic frameworks (COFs), hypercrosslinked polymers (HCLPs), conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs), and porous aromatic frameworks (POAFs). Notably, these materials demonstrate superior H storage capacities, achieving up to 10 wt% at cryogenic temperatures, which is essential for applying H as a clean energy carrier.

Background: Edible oils are susceptible to contamination with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) throughout production, storage, and transportation processes due to their lipophilic nature. The necessity of quantifying PAHs present in complex oil matrices at trace levels, which bind strongly to impurities in oil matrices, poses a major challenge to the accurate quantification of these contaminants. Therefore, the development of straightforward and effective methods for the separation and enrichment of PAHs in oil samples prior to instrumental analysis is paramount to guaranteeing food safety.
