Background/aim: Locoregional recurrences of head and neck cancers are often associated with a poor overall survival (OS). Outcomes may be improved with individualized treatments considering a patient's lifespan. A specific scoring system for estimating OS prognoses is presented.
Patients And Methods: In a preceding study of these 60 patients, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance score (ECOG 0-1 versus 2, p=0.002) and N-stage (N0-1 versus N2, p=0.004) were identified as independent predictors of OS.
Results: In the current study, the following scoring points were assigned: ECOG performance score 2=0 points, ECOG performance score 0-1=1 point, N2=0 points, N0-1=1 point. Patient scores were 0, 1 or 2 points with 3-year OS rates of 0%, 46% and 83%, respectively (p<0.0001). On multivariable analysis, differences remained significant (p<0.0001).
Conclusion: This new scoring system includes three groups of patients with significantly different OS prognoses and can assist physicians when designing individualized therapy for locoregional recurrences of head and neck cancer.

Background: The implementation of large language models (LLMs), such as BART (Bidirectional and Auto-Regressive Transformers) and GPT-4, has revolutionized the extraction of insights from unstructured text. These advancements have expanded into health care, allowing analysis of social media for public health insights. However, the detection of drug discontinuation events (DDEs) remains underexplored.

Background: The ring-augmented Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (raRYGB) has been reported to result in higher long-term weight loss compared to regular Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). However, the type of ring used varied within studies, leading to heterogeneity in reported results. Therefore, this study compares the 5-year results of RYGB with and without ring augmentation using a specific prefabricated gastric ring.

Background: Alpine skiing requires flexibility, endurance, strength and rotational ability, which may be lost after long fusions to the pelvis for adult spinal deformity (ASD). ASD patients may worry about their ability to return to skiing (RTS) postoperatively. There is currently insufficient data for spine surgeons to adequately address questions about when, or if, their patients might RTS.

Purpose: The objective of this study is to assess the psychometric properties and reliability of the Swedish Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) item banks for anxiety and depressive symptoms with item response theory analysis and post-hoc computerized adaptive testing in a combined Swedish Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) and school sample.
Methods: Participants (n = 928, age 12-20) were recruited from junior and high schools and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinics in the region of Västerbotten. Unidimensionality, local independence, and monotonicity was tested.

Background: Rabies is a preventable yet deadly public health threat. Despite the availability of effective vaccines for both humans and animals, the persistence of rabies-related fatalities underscores the need for enhanced public education strategies. This study aimed to develop and validate a Rabies Health Education Module delivered via a Massive Open Online Course, targeting adult dog owners in Kelantan, Malaysia.
