Two thirds of military personnel diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) do not engage in treatment. We examined the degree that prejudicial beliefs about people with PTSD negatively affected psychiatric medication acceptance. Public stigma is best defined as negative stereotypes regarding individuals being judged as inferior or weak for having PTSD.

Background: Mothers of children diagnosed with cancer are found to have coping difficulties in various studies. Most of the studies were done on parents after their child has been newly diagnosed with malignancy, and very few studies were done on coping skills intervention. Hence, this study has been done to assess the impact of cognitive behavioural intervention on caregiver burden in mothers of children diagnosed with cancer.

Objective: Adolescents who have been sexually abused commonly experience trauma symptoms, and many are referred for trauma-based treatment. However, they sometimes spend considerable time on waitlists before beginning treatment. This study examines the course of trauma symptoms among adolescents who have been sexually abused and are waiting for treatment, and the extent to which self-blame for the abuse predicts trauma symptoms at the beginning of treatment.

Mechanisms underlying the manifestation of relatives' expressed emotion (EE) in the early stages of psychosis are still not properly understood. The present study aimed to examine whether relatives' psychological distress and subjective appraisals of the illness predicted EE dimensions over-and-above patients' poor clinical and functional status. Baseline patient-related variables and relatives attributes comprising criticism, emotional over-involvement (EOI), psychological distress, and illness attributions were assessed in 91 early psychosis patients and their respective relatives.

Prominent in the 1980s was AIDS disinformation, including the HIV-from-Fort-Detrick myth, for whose propagation some figures ultimately admitted blame while others shamelessly claimed credit. In 2013 we reported a comprehensive analysis of this myth, finding leading roles for the Soviet Union's state security service, the KGB, and for biologist and independent conspiracy theorist Jakob Segal but not for East Germany's state security service, the Stasi.
